4 New EMSC Performance Measures NEMSIS (NaHonal EMS InformaHon System) V3 QI Data: The degree to which EMS agencies submit NEMSIS compliant version 3.x data to the State EMS Office for submission to NEMSIS Technical Assistance Center (TAC). The goal is that by 2021, 90% of EMS agencies in the state/territory submit NEMSIS compliant version 3.x or higher data to the state EMS office for all 911 inihated EMS achvahons. EMS Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC): The percentage of EMS agencies in the state/territory that have a designated individual who coordinates pediatric emergency care. The goal is that by 2026, 90% of EMS agencies will have a PECC. EMS Skills Check: The percentage of EMS agencies in the state/territory that have a process that requires EMS providers to physically demonstrate the correct use of pediatric-specific equipment. The goal is that by 2026, 90% of EMS agencies will have a process that requires their EMS providers to physically demonstrate the correct use of pediatric-specific equipment. ImplementaHon Manual to be released March
5 Facility RecogniHon QI CollaboraHve Problem: The majority of ill and injured children seek care at the closest emergency department (ED) in their community. It is crihcal that all EDs have the appropriate resources and staff to provide effechve emergency care for children. Partners: CollaboraHon of the EMSC Program and the EMSC State Partnership grantees along with the EIIC, AAP, ACEP and the ENA Purpose: The purpose of the collaborahve is to assist state programs to accelerate their progress in developing a program to verify and recognize emergency departments that are ready to care for children with medical emergencies. 5
6 Facility RecogniHon QI CollaboraHve Who s Involved: The EIIC is overseeing the FRC CollaboraHve, consishng of 14 EMSC State Partnership Grantees. 7 Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) Data sharing through NEMSIS Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) and its 9 parhcipahng EMS agencies (EMSAs) have inihated a project to give them the ability to rapidly determine the types and numbers of pediatric pahents transported by each partner EMSA using their own NEMSIS data. 78 clinical and EMS system variables NEMSIS collects would be made available for the 9 EMSAs with a data users agreement between the EMS office and the EMSA agency The EMSAs are working to get those data use agreements in place 4 of these EMSAs were not providing data to NEMSIS before this effort but are now doing so. 7
8 EMSC Strategic Planning Why is the EMSC program developing a new program strategy? The EMSC program wants to understand how it can uhlize its finite resources and navigate everyday challenges to achieve and measure success over the next 5 years. The EMSC s new strategy will help the EMSC program address the following queshons: What forces are influencing the program and what are strategies to overcome and take advantage of these forces in a way that advances EMSC s exishng and potenhal capabilihes? How do we engage with the large and diverse group of stakeholders in a way that supports the program s strategic goals? Where can the program align investments in a way that is coordinated and complementary in order to amplify and show impact?

Trauma Pre-hospital and hospital care se^ngs Reduce morbidity and mortality for children in emergencies Medical Emergency Services Obtain and sustain essenhal support to achieve sustainable funding and growth Pre-hospital and hospital workforce Be recognized as a united voice for and as a key leader in emergency care for children Foster transformahon through a culture of research and quality improvement
