4 PREVENT Level Collective Prevention In public areas of health care facilities it is important to create a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Waiting areas, public corridors and offices are the first points of contact in the spread of infectious diseases. Preventative disinfection measures can inhibit the spread of pathogens. Knowledge of the potential risk of infection determines the appropriate spectrum of activity.
