1 NUR 211M Assessment and Diagnosis in Nursing The course is designed to describe the concepts of contemporary professional nursing and basic nursing skills for helping students nurses grow and evolve to meet the demands of a dramatically changing health care system. It prepares students to develop and utilize nursing care plans and gain deeper insights into the issues they will confront in the profession. Also they demonstrate competent basic nursing skills; and apply physical assessment for cardiovascular, respiratory, abdominal, musculoskeletal and neurologic system and enhance the critical thinking in a systematic problem solving process. 7 hours (3theory, 2 lab, 2 clinical) Pre-requites: NUR 101M NUR 441M Capstone Research Project 2 hours The students will have the opportunity to learn the process of research through developing an idea, outlining a process, making Pre-requites: All previous courses up to level 7 group decisions, reviewing the literature, presenting their idea and answering questions on the idea. (NUR121M) Therapeutic Communication 2 hours Introduces health care professionals to the essentials of effective communication with clients, families, and other health care professionals. Principles of verbal and non-verbal communication are explored through classroom presentation, discussion, case studies and role play. NUR 433 M Critical Care Nursing 6 hours/ week ( lecture, 2 hours lab., 6 hours clinical) This course is designed to provide nursing students with knowledge and skills required to care competently and safely for Pre-requites: NUR 431, NUR 432, NUR 433 critically ill patient. It focuses on having the students expand their knowledge base and master critical care nursing psychomotor skills associated with assessment and provision of comprehensive nursing care for patient with acute life threatening conditions and attitudes through reflection in and on action in clinical settings. NUR (433) Nursing Care of the Elderly 5 credit hours (3 lecture, 6 clinical) This course is a study of health and health related problems of the older adult in the family. Emphasis is placed on the management Pre-requites: NUR 311, NUR 321, MPH 313, MBS 352 of health and health related problems, when age is a factor overlying care. Students are taught to differentiate between health potential and health problems in the aged client. Nursing strategies for health promotion, maintenance and restoration of the aged client in a complex multicultural society is also emphasized. 1

2 ( MBC 461M) Emotional and Mental Health of Clients In this course, the student is introduced to basic concepts of mental health, psychopathy, and treatment modalities related to the nursing care of clients and their families. Concepts include a systems approach to therapeutic communication and relationships, evidence-based care, symptom management, teaching/learning, leadership, and collaboration with other healthcare workers. Supervised participation in nursing and healthcare of clients with psychiatric-mental health problems in varied settings is provided. 5 hours (6 clinical + 3 theory) Pre-requites: Psy 102M PHS 231 M Clinical pharmacology This course is designed to introduce Nursing student to Pharmacology. The nurse knowledge of drugs pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic is a major component of patient care. In this course the student will learn about drugs therapeutic use, adverse effect, drug-drug, drug-food interaction etc. This will help the nurses in providing proper patient care and will reduce medication errors. MBS 201 Anatomy and Physiology (1) ( 2 lecture/ 1 lab) MBS 201 is the first half of a two-semester course on the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The course is designed to provide information about the basic concepts of the structure and function of the human body. Pre-requites: Biology (BIO 101) MBS 202 Anatomy and Physiology (2) (2 lecture/ 1 lab) MBS 202 is the second half of a two-semester course on the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The course is designed to provide information about the basic concepts of the structure and function of the human body. Pre-requites: Anatomy and Physiology (1) MBS 201 NUR 432 M Pediatric nursing Theory: 3 credit hours Practice: 2credit hours The students should be able to utilize basic scientific principles, Pre-requites: Nur 332 M concepts, problem solving approach and evidence based practice to provide nursing care to children during health and common medical and surgical problems regarding cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, neurological and endocrinology. IS 433 Electronic Information Management This course assist nursing students to define nursing informatics and computer system. It aim at introducing students into computer applications in the nursing profession. As well as to analyze current ethical issues that arise out of the use of health information technology and to demonstrate the use of electronic health record system in nursing research Pre-requites: IS 101 MBS 261 Microbiology and disease 4 (3 Lectures, 2 Labs) This course aims at helping nursing students to acquire a basic understanding of structure and identification methods for medically important bacteria, viruses. Parasites, yeasts and molds. In addition to develop an understanding of the relationship between these germs and the development of clinical illness in susceptible hosts and related methods of sterilization and disinfections. As well as to understand the importance of normal flora of human body, importance of antibiotics therapy in minimizing nosocomial infections. Pre-requites: BIO 101 M NFS111 Principles of nutrition Introducing the science of nutrition and study the classification, digestion, absorption, metabolism, and function of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, water, vitamins, and minerals in the human body. PSY142M Human Growth and Development The students should be able to utilize basic scientific principles and concepts about growth and development and differentiate between all stages of growth and development according to developmental theory. 3

4 NUR 101 M Introduction to Professional Nursing This course is designated to introduce the student the nursing philosophy and educational plan and the qualification or characteristics of professional nurse and considering ethical and legal aspect in nursing. NUR 301M Epidemiology and Global Perspective in Health Care Describe the historical context of population health and epidemiology and the importance to healthcare today. It helps students to distinguish between different routes of disease transmission. As well as to analyze risk assessment tools relate to health promotion advice and to help defining the role of nurses in community health settings NUR 431 Maternity and women health nursing The course is designed to meet women need during normal and abnormal aspects of maternity cycle and apply nursing process to assess, plan and implement the quality care for women during their reproductive cycle. MPH 313M Spirit of Inquiry: Nursing Research and Evidence based Practice The purpose of this course is to introduce the undergraduate nursing student to the research process as presented in professional nursing literature. It aims at introducing the basic concepts of research, its nature, purposes, methods, literature review and data collection, analysis & utilization. Emphasis will be on the applicability and implementation of the research process to nursing and health related problems. The course provide the students with the opportunity to prepare for research projects. Pre-requites: MPH 311M BIO 101 MBS 171- Genetics/Genomics 3hours This course describe the role of the nurse in genetics. Review the processes involved in mitosis and meiosis. Describe the structure of genetic material and Mendelian s Theory of Inheritance. Define and describe genetic testing and diagnosis. Examine the causes and risk for Down Syndrome. 5 CHEM 151 Biochemistry (2theory + 1clinical) Describe the biosynthetic processes leading to generation of proteins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates, recognize the regulatory processes underlying the biosynthesis of macromolecules, describe the function of protein, nucleic acid, carbohydrate, and lipid macromolecules in cellular systems, demonstrate a fundamental understanding of enzyme kinetics, mechanism and regulation of its activity, describe intermediary metabolism in terms of energy generation and maintaining cellular homeostasis, explain the role of lipids in cellular structures and membranes, discuss the mechanisms of DNA replication, repair, protein synthesis and the biotechnology techniques. Pre-requites: Organic Chemistry CHEM 101 NUR 451 Nursing Management 2 hours This course is aimed to introduce the students to the concepts and principles of management and leadership. Emphasis will be on management theories, management process, leadership styles, quality improvement, change management strategies and their applications. It enhances students leadership skills in maintaining best practices and standards of care. Critical thinking will be utilized throughout the course to promote effective decision making, problem solving, and producing necessary changes. Pre-requites: All Specialized courses from Semester 3 to 7 BUS101 Principles of Management The course offers an introduction to the process elements and skills of nursing management and the opportunity to integrate management principles, practices and skills through observing, discussing and participating in selected aspects of the management process on a patient care division. MBS 251m Pathophysiology of Disease This course focuses on concepts from biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology essential to understanding alterations in Pre-requites: Anatomy and Physiology 2 (MBS 202) body systems across the lifespan. By understanding the mechanisms of disease, the student will develop clinical decision making for health promotion, risk reduction, and disease management. NUR 331M Nursing Care of the Adult (1) 6 hours (9 clinical + 3 theory) Course focuses on care of the adult client with specific alterations in basic needs. Content includes development of competency Pre-requites: NUR 211M, NUR 121M, utilizing the nursing process and concepts of caring, and demonstrates the role of the nurse in a variety of health care settings. 6 NUR 332M Nursing Care of the Adult (2) 6 hours (9 clinical + 3 theory) This is a more advanced course that focuses on Basic and Pre-requites: NUR 331M advanced health Needs of adult patients using the Nursing Process to provide quality, safe patient centered care for diverse populations through teamwork and collaboration. Students use knowledge and science to manage the complex issues of patients with both acute and chronic conditions in a variety of healthcare environments. 6
