Each has criteria to which an application must comply.
8 Introducing the funds Flexible Levy-registered employers CITB-funded Training Groups Construction Federations and trade associations Designed to fund projects that are quick and adaptable Skills & Training Levy registered employers: - Up to 49 staff: 5,000 - Up to 74 staff: 7,500 - Up to 99 staff: 10,000 Specialist federations: - Up to 10,000 For the delivery of skills and training not funded by grant One award per organisation per twelve-month period Up to 5k paid up-front; remainder upon completion Innovation 10, ,000 Collaborations of three or more eligible organisations Introducing something new to the sector, such as training materials, courses or methods Enhanced Incentives 10, ,000 Collaborations of three or more eligible organisations Incentives for completing training, apprenticeships and qualifications or achievements These are the criteria to which an application must comply, for each fund option this application window.

14 Developing an idea Ideas are not eligible when solutions can be funded elsewhere an appropriate solution already exists solutions are not transferable to wider industry Quality applications connect Evidence - need Deliverables & beneficiaries Evidence solution Quality applications don t duplicate existing products or services, and make strong connections between the issue, solution and the deliverables.

Making an application Some top tips Read the guidance notes before, during and after Check your finances, and account for any grant available If the question doesn t ask for it, don t put it in it won t be scored Make sure evidence is within the question, referenced and relevant Use positive, committal language talk about what you will do, rather than what could be done Some top tips based on common reasons applications are declined
19 3. Making an application Flexible and Structured Beneficiaries 30% Who will benefit from the project? The activities they will benefit from, the number and type of beneficiary, and how they might benefit. 30% Evidence - need 40% There is a demonstrable industry need 40% Evidence - solution 30% The appropriateness of the chosen solution to address the identified need 20% The alternative or existing approaches which have been considered 10% These are the four scored sections for the Stage 1 application form, and the percentage weighting which is given to each one.

24 Making an application Basic details 0% Complete the name of your organisation and its address. Tell us which region or nation the project will take place in, and how you heard about the Flexible and Structured Funds Section-by-section guidance on completing your application
25 Making an application Contact details 0% Give the contact details of the person in your organisation submitting the application. This person must be employed by the applicant and not a third party. We ll use these details for all correspondence. The application form will automatically save at this point. You will be sent a unique reference that can be used to retrieve your application later. Section-by-section guidance on completing your application
26 Making an application Partner details 0% Applications must comprise a partnership of three or more eligible organisations. Provide all requested information about each organisation in your partnership. The contact details (such as the address) should be connected to the selected organisation. Ensure you complete all fields before clicking next. The system will allow you to register up to three partners. To register more that three partners please the funding team at funding@citb.co.uk. 27 Making an application Project details 0% Give your project a name which describes the project. Provide the start and end date. The duration will be calculated for you. Provide the total project value, and the request from CITB. You will only be able to continue if your project value and duration comply with the fund option criteria. You must also ensure you provide at least 30% of match funding in your application. Section-by-section guidance on completing your application
28 Making an application Deliverables and beneficiaries 30% Identify the people who will benefit from the activities in your project, and how. You can write about beneficiaries in terms of four defined groups: - Existing workforce - New entrants - Wider industry - Other You need not respond to any groups which do not directly benefit from your project. For each relevant group, describe the project deliverables which impact upon them, the number that are impacted and how. Section-by-section guidance on completing your application
29 Making an application Deliverables and beneficiaries (continued) 30% For each relevant group, give a rationale for how you have arrived at the numbers you have indicated will benefit. Explain how you will monitor how these groups benefit, and demonstrate the impact of the project upon them. Section-by-section guidance on completing your application
30 Making an application Evidence (need 30%, solution 20%, alternatives 10%) 70% Provide a clear evidence base that the issue you are seeking to address, and the solution you are proposing: Need Use facts and figures to show that you are not the only one who is affected by this issue. Use robust and checkable research, evidence and statistics supported by evidence or surveys which you have developed. Solution Describe your solution and how it will address the identified need. In doing so, state the success criteria for your project, explaining what is to be achieved and how. Describe the outcomes you will achieve, both in the short and long term. Make a compelling case for the unique benefits of your solution. Section-by-section guidance on completing your application
31 Making an application Review and submit 0% Once you have completed your application, you will be able to review the entire form. Check your answers for accuracy, errors and to be sure that you are happy with your answers. When you are, click submit. Section-by-section guidance on completing your application

35 CITB role and support Scoring and evaluation Non-compliant response Unacceptable response Unsatisfactory response Acceptable response Good response Excellent response Meets none of the requirements of the question The applicant s response shows a significant shortfall in meeting the requirements, indicating that the response to the question is unsatisfactory. The applicant s response meets some, but not all of the requirements of the question to a satisfactory level. The applicant s response indicates that the information provided meets all of the requirements of the question to a satisfactory level. The applicant s response meets all of the requirements to a satisfactory level and in some cases exceeds them, clearly indicating that the response to the question is above what would be expected. The applicant's response exceeds all of the requirements, indicating that the response to the question exceeds all expectations. This is what we use to score each (scored) question. Each question must receive a 3 to be approved.
