1 Welcome is Tipperary s largest and northernmost District with an existing base of large scale indigenous industry. The District has potential as a location for a vibrant and diverse enterprise mix including major research and development functions, tourism, water-based and outdoor recreation, renewable energy and emerging sectors such as agritech, life sciences, financial services, and engineering. is strategically located within the catchment of Limerick City, Shannon Airport and the Foynes Port Areas giving the District a distinct competitive advantage in respect of international access. 3 Available Industrial Sites Tipperary Green Enterprise Park, Cloughjordan Shannonside Business Park, Birdhill Municipal District offers a range of property solutions to meet the needs of FDI and indigenous firms including a land bank zoned for industrial development, enterprise and commercial venture space in addition to a unique Green Enterprise Park located in Cloughjordan in the midst of an eco-village. The Council acquired 21.5 hectares (53 acres approx.) of serviced development land at Stereame in This will provide for the consolidation and possible future expansion of the First Data Research and Development Centre. The District will shortly see the opening of the global financial technology company First Data in where the company will employ 300 people at its new European research and development centre. 6 Skill Access to 160,000 students has access to a wide pool of third level students due to its proximity to Limerick and its strategic location within the Mid-West Region. Limerick, which is 35 minutes from Town, is home to Limerick Institute of Technology and the University of Limerick an internationally focussed university with a student population of 13,000 and home to Europe s largest student internship programme while also housing Ireland s only on-campus live trading floor.
