She wishes to join the TDGF as an alternate member. Regards, Dick Forwarded Message From: Katharine Veni <katieveni@icloud.com> To: RWGander@yahoo.com Sent: Thursday, March 24, :02 AM Subject: Katie bio Dear Dick, Here is my short bio for the committee appointment. I hope this is OK, but please let me know if you have any comments. Thanks again and see you soon! A native of Ohio, as well as a long-time denizen of New York City, I have spent most of my career in the performing arts field, producing jazz festivals, tours, and recordings, working with a who's who of jazz artists. I became a professional fund raiser 15 years ago, eventually developing expertise in major gift philanthropy, grateful for the opportunity to make a greater impact on the mission of the organizations I've served. I moved to California in I've been Development Director at the University of the Pacific's Dave Brubeck Institute and Conservatory of Music, Development Director at UC Berkeley's Cal Performances, and Major Gift Officer at SFJAZZ. I turned my professional focus to conservation philanthropy in 2012 when I became a Major Gift Officer at Save the Redwoods League. Since moving to Truckee last year (12533 Snowpeak Way), I have been consulting remotely for non-profits in prospect research, strategic planning and grant writing. Last year, my husband, Joe, and I jumped at the chance to purchase the beautiful Tahoe Donner legacy home of dear friends. We are blessed to be living in the High Sierras and enjoy being outdoors for any reason. We spend our recreational hours skiing, hiking, kayaking, playing tennis and more, and we love exploring the precious public lands that surround us. My fitness interests include yoga, Pilates and Thai Massage, and I annually do in-depth training in those modalities. Notably, in February of this year Joe and I made the trip of a lifetime to Tanzania, summiting Mount Kilimanjaro and safariing the Serengeti Plain. 1
