2 Call for Abstracts Principles and Rules Each participants that wishes to make a contribution to the conference is required to choose a session topic within one of the 4 Global Themes of the conference: 1. Climate Change and Energy Challenge 2. Global Engineering Challenges 3. Breakthrough Technologies 4. Urbanisation and Growth Each session is a Scientific Session (S) or a Professional Session (P): Scientific Sessions have the objective to advance structural engineering science and transfer new technologies from science to application. Typically, the formats are Paper Presentations and Workshops. Professional Sessions are platforms where structural engineering approaches and tools, topical technical issues, societal and commercial items as well as professional issues (education, ethics) are debated by means of personal statements, case studies, experience sharing and discussions. Typically, the formats are: Debates, Workshops and Master Classes. All accepted Abstract contributors will be asked to submit a written contribution: Scientific Sessions: max. 8-pages full paper is submitted for peer-review by the SC. Professional Sessions: either a full paper or a max. 2-pages short paper is requested; full papers are peer-reviewed, short papers are reviewed by the Session Facilitator and the SC for respecting certain quality standard.

5 Participants wishing to make a contribution in accordance with the themes of the conference (previous slides) are invited to submit an abstract no longer than 400 words. To submit an abstract, please log in at:

6 Enter the Author Center.

7 You will find here a template to prepare your abstract. It should be no longer than 400 words and fit in one of the proposed Session Topic of the conference.

8 Click on the link to submit a new manuscript. You can also continue a submission that was previously created and not completed or delete it.

9 The 5 steps of the submission process are shown in the progression bar on the left of the screen. You can move between the steps, but do not forget to always click Save and Continue before you do so. You can interrupt the submission process at any time and come back to it later.

10 Step 1 : Theme & Title Select the correct Global Theme and enter the title of the proposed contribution. The chosen Global Theme should correspond to the chosen Session Topic for your abstract (see next step). Save and Continue. Global Theme

11 Step 2 : Session Topic Select the correct Session Topic for your abstract (see previous slides). Only ONE Session topic should be chosen. S is for Scientific Sessions and P is for Professional Sessions. If no Session Topic fits your contribution, you may select Related topic in the correct Global Theme. Save and Continue. Select 1

12 Step 3 : Authors & Institutions Add the Co-Authors and select the presenting author. You can find an Author that has already registered in the system using his address. You can also enter their information manually. You must click Add To My Authors to add the new person to the list. You can modify the order of the authors using the numbers in the left column of the table. You can edit the information for each author in your list. You can also delete an Author. Save and Continue.

13 Step 4 : File Upload Upload the doc-file of your abstract: Click Browse and select the right file on your computer. Select Abstract as File Designation. Click Upload File. Browse

14 Step 4 : File Upload Review the pdf proof by clicking PDF. Save and Continue. Browse

15 Step 5 : Review & Submit Review the information entered in every previous step. Click Edit if some changes are needed. Click Submit to complete the submission process.

16 You will receive an to confirm the submission. The submitted abstract will appear on your Author Dashboard in the Submitted Manuscripts without Decisions list with its Manuscript ID. Please mention this ID in all future correspondence with the Conference Secretariat. At any time, you can view the status of your manuscript in the Author Center. In order to change your manuscript after submission, please contact the Conference Secretariat Once the abstract will be accepted, you will be able to submit the full paper or contribution for the conference.
