2 ERA-NET for Research infrastructures Objectives To help developing EU Programmes and Policy for research infrastructures (Very important in relation with future calls in Particular for FP8 aligned with our needs!!!) Acquire a mutual and better understanding of the Funding systems of nuclear physics infrastructures and associated equipments in Europe DONE Identification of joint activities to be implemented in the framework of NuPNET DONE Establish procedures and funding for transnational common activities) DONE Launching of one (or more) joint pilot activity DONE Long-Term Goal Establish a sustainable action beyond this project to be done today (A Standing Committee with direct links to ESFRI, EU-RI, EU-Programmes EU-Countries Representatives) Eligible partners are only programme owners: National, regional, ministries, governments, Research councils, funding agencies who are all managing research programmes.

13 Evaluation process A three step process: - two anonymous evaluations per proposal (May 1 st until June 30) - a peer review panel ranking the proposals according to the anonymous evaluations and their own criteria (meeting on July 12) - final funding allocation following the ranking proposed by the peer review panel and the budgetary boundaries (IFAs meeting on July 13) NuPNET fourth GC meeting, Santiago 3/10/2011

16 Application for national funds In many countries the funding allocation is straight forward since the NuPNET representation also has control on the budgets. In few cases (Spain, Poland) the NuPNET representation and the funding allocation are two different bodies. In that case the eligible proposals should apply for funding using the national rules and calls. Final decision on the funding per eligible proposal are expected before the end of the year. 23 Beyond NuPNET 1)The NuPNET consortium continues its activities, the Governing Council and the Coordination Committee remain active. The management expenses are covered by the partners 2)The NuPNET consortium concentrates on running the pilot call, only those partners are involved who already financially involved in the pilot call. It is expected that the monitoring of the supported projects demand some overhead, that can be handled by NuPNET, as a pan-european agency. 3)The NuPNET activities are run by the present Work Package leader agencies. The pilot call is regarded as a NuPNET achievement, running by the agencies involved. The Work Package leaders are searching for further interest for other calls, similar to the pilot one. SOLUTION 1 decided by GC4 last week
