30 Driving Innovation Six in Six Six in Six (Plus One) Projects 1. Public Housing Wait List & Client Mgmt. System Applying for public housing currently entails a paper-based, location-specific process that is inefficient for constituents, advocates, and agency employees. 2. Homeless Database Pilot Establish a quality database of homeless clients to enable agencies to deliver better, more complete services through coordinated care process Data Visualization & GIS Pilot Mobile Apps Solutions Kit Procurement Competition Use GIS info for analysis and evolution of constituent services. Map GIS data with information pertinent to public housing and the state s homeless population in support of business of Dept. of Housing and Community Development. Identify ready-to-use mobile app kits that can quickly meet agency needs. Map to existing agency business needs and launch initial apps. Create a pipeline of options to give agencies a low-cost, low-effort, quick turnaround app solution. Attract small / innovative companies by working closely with VC / startup community; at the same time, meet mandate in Executive Order Lower-Cost Broadband for K-12 in Western MA 7. Free Public WiFi Combine existing wireless and physical networks to establish last mile to connect K-12 schools to fiber. Prioritize by current capabilities and price currently paid for private sector service. Recently announced at Western MA Developers Conference. Partner with municipalities to use existing network assets to bring public wifi to underserved areas. Initial focus on high population and gateway cities per HED list. Will also look at public housing sites near existing fiber. Site surveys underway 29
