Proposed by : Ifer Gwyn Seconded by : Sian Tomos AGW Update 5.1 Crowd Funding (AGW.033) Zoe Pritchard gave the group an update on the Ynni Ogwen/Padarn Peris Crowd Funding scheme. Work is ongoing to gather statistics and facts for the campaign. This information will be available for any community of interest wishing to do similar work in future. A documentary video outlining the scheme s journey was shown. The film will be circulated to the group and will also be on our social media. Work will start in September to discover the next community to take part in the 2 nd Crowd Funding scheme. ZP asked that if anyone had an idea about a 2

community of interest, to contact the team. The group discussed the potential of creating another project with all the Ynni Ogwen/Padarn/Peris Crowd Funding statistics. Examine the pattern of investment, how much investment and the reasons for this? For the community or interest for shareholders? DG explained that there was an opportunity for the Ynni Plant student to look at the project s statistics during her work experience in July and August. 5.2 Most Welsh Awards (AGW.035) ZP gave an update on the Most Welsh Awards. The project is going from strength to strength, with several press releases having appeared, it is also on our social media. As a result of the successful campaign, the Arloesi Gwynedd Wledig Facebook/Twitter pages have attracted several new followers. Closing date The group asked what was the vision behind the awards and could they be continued annually? DG reminded members that the main aim of the project was to start a conversation about the economic benefit of the language. It was agreed that continuing with the awards could be discussed in the relevant subgroup. The group added that there was scope to consider other awards, eg happiest village etc. It was decides to award the winners with the black sheep trophy. CabI suggested giving the winners a banner. BFW/DG to investigate the possibility. BFW/DG Reference was made to the Project Amendment form which was in the members pack, which included an application for an extra 2,000 for this project towards producing a final film for the project. This is as a result of the project s outstanding success, and the need to close it and ensure that the right message about the project and Arloesi Gwynedd Wledig are conveyed for the future. The group gave approval to change the cost of the project from 5000 to 7000 ( 2000 more) 5.3 Prosiect 15 (AGW.036) ZP introduced a video of one of the evening s speakers, Rhys Davies, to the members. She confirmed that a link to the video of speakers will be circulated to 3

members as well as on our social media/prosiect 15 Website. A number of tickets have been sold with 99 seats out of 120 filled. Excellent feedback was received from Sian Tomos and Menna Jones and the other responses from the Survey Monkey questionnaire. The group discussed the possibility of holding the event again in new/innovative locations. AJG said that Theatr Seilo would be an excellent location for it. A meeting has been arranged with the Prosiect 15 group on Monday, 4 th July, to discuss the project further. The sub-group will need to discuss the next steps of Prosiect 15 in September, in particular the decision whether to fund more events or not. CabI thanked BFW and the officers for all their hard work to realise Prosiect 15/AGW. 5.4 Byw a Bod Perfformwyr (AGW.030) Rachel Roberts received 12 applications from students for the Byw a Bod Perfformwyr. As a result of the high number applying and on the basis of the talent seen, the group decided to change the number of students from 5 to 7. RR explained that the students had started since Monday ( ). The process of documenting it will begin this week. It was asked whether information about the Byw a Bod: Perfformio scheme could be sent to S4C to see if they would be interested in following it? RR The project amendment form for Byw a Bod: Perfformio was referred to (AGW.030) and the request that the this LAG approves 7 students rather than the original allocation of 5. It was noted that an has already been sent to all members of the LAG explaining the situation in detail, and that most members had already responded to the , with everyone who had responded happy to approve the 2 extra students and the additional costs this would incur. The LAG was asked to approve having 2 extra students and an extra 3,800 for project costs. The LAG approved the amendments with the total cost of the Byw a Bod: Perfformio project increasing from 27,000 to 30,800 Byw a Bod: Digidol (AGW.031) 4

19 applied, only 10 from Gwynedd and 4 students accepted the opportunity. A lesson already learnt following the response is the need to advertise the opportunity earlier in the year. The group discussed the possibility of looking at the lack of technological skills in the county, and questioned why there are vacancies in high value jobs in Gwynedd. AJG suggested ways of targeting young people not only with the digital opportunities but the creative side too. There are a number of apprenticeships available through companies such as Rondo, who look for creative students with a high standard of digital skills. DLlR added that there were opportunities for those studying science and maths too, as there are a number of technology companies looking for these STEM qualifications. To be discussed further with the relevant sub-group. 5.5 Wi-Fi Aberdaron- Data Request (AGW.013) The group was given an update of the Wi-Fi Aberdaron AGW.032 scheme from ZP. A video of Newyddion 9 was shown. 2,300 users so far since May, to increase by the end of the summer. Following the initial success of this pilot project, a further discussion had taken place within the theme 5 sub-group digital about how to develop the project further. As a result of the sub-group s dicussions, DG presented a new application to the LAG called Analysing the Aberdaron Data AGW.005. He explained that the statistics about the users of the Aberdaron Wi-Fi are interesting, and could be used for marketing purposes. An opportunity to analyse the data for the good of the community, to see whether the tourist season can be extended and to share that information with other communities. The group approved the request for Analysing the Aberdaron Data (AGW.013) 8,000 Ongoing Schemes 6.1 Open Call Non-statutory Services (AGW.016) SMT presented the Open Call for Non-statutory Services. This scheme is open to 3 communities in Gwynedd who wish to take over local government services. Marketing work will begin in July, with the closing date for applications on the 5 th 5

of September; and the Local Action Group will approve the 3 successful communities in the next LAG in September. Because there are a large number of communities asking for help, it will not be possible to help all enquiries that come in. DG confirmed that information will be available for other communities of interest once the project is completed. 6.2 Car Charging Points (AGW.034) ZP explained that a great number of enquiries have now been received. The closing date is 30 th of June. 9 full applications have now arrived and they will be assessed in the week after the closing date. ZP presented a video (Videscribe) to the members promoting the scheme and thanked Aaron for his work in creating the video. ZP added that the original quotation of 6,250 was a general cost and did not allow any flexibility if a site were more complex and expensive than expected. Therefore, she referred to the project amendment form and asked whether LAG members would be willing to increase the project cost for car charging points from 10,000 to 11,500, in order to ensure there was sufficient funding to pay for all the costs of installing the charging equipment in the 5 chosen locations. The group approved increasing the cost from 10,000 to 11, IndyCube (AGW.008) ZP presented the Indycube scheme to members, which is a hot desking scheme using spaces in the Library, Porthmadog. Several discussions have already taken place with the Council with regard to rent and rates. ZP would like to develop this bid over the next few months, she explained to members that in that case the bid would be circulated to members through before the next meeting in September. Any member would be welcome to send questions to Zoe on Zoe@arloesigwyneddwledig.com for additional information. 6.4 Targeting Digital Tourism (AGW.015) 6

ZP presented the Targeting Digital Tourism to the members. This is a group of tourist businesses that have already come together to seek opportunities and connections in the Harlech area. The intention is to look for new ways of marketing and discover links between Harlech and the rest of the world. Once the work is completed, the information and research work can be shared with other areas in Gwynedd. The intention is to submit a full application to the LAG ready for September. 6.5 Rhodd Eryri (AGW.002) In addition to the Agenda, ZP presented the Rhodd Eryri marketing video to the group. This is a scheme that will be discussed next week. Another video documenting the project will be available later. The group discussed the scheme s language policy. DG explained that there are some cases where Welsh/English will have a different priority, depending on the scheme. He noted that it was important that all publicity work should be bilingual. MJ suggested that the relevant sub-group should discuss this. General Matters MWD was concerned that Theme 2 (Facilitating pre-commercial development, business partnerships and short supply chains) was weaker than the other themes, and it was asked whether this theme could be revisited to find out what can be done to secure the best use of the funding. AGW staff acknowledged the concern, and ZP explained that Theme 2 was difficult to implement because of issues regarding state aid. Projects are not so evident in this theme compared with the others. She added that was work was ongoing to look at supply chain schemes such as the Brailsford Trails and the coastal path, but AGW staff will give priority to projects within this theme over the next few months, and hopefully they can present new projects under theme 2 by the next LAG meeting in September. 7.1 Project Amendment Forms ZP presented the project amendment form to members. These sheets will be used from now on to show and explain any changes in costs within projects that 7

have already been approved by the LAG in past meetings. 7.2 Election of LAG Chair ZP thanked MJ and AWE (absent today) for their hard work over the last year as chair and vice-chair. It was now time to elect a chair and vice-chair for the next year. ZP asked members to send nominations to Saran (saran@arloesigwyneddwledig.com). SE will then contact the nominees to check that they are happy to be nominated. Once that is done, Saran will circulate a questionnaire (Survey Monkey) to LAG members, that will ask them to vote for a chair, and the second highest number of votes will be vice-chair. The chair and vice-chair of AGW will be in place by the next LAG meeting in September AGW Celebration Event ZP proposed the idea of having an AGW celebration after the LAG meeting in September, using the same structure as Project 15 which is a reflection of innovation in Gwynedd. AJG suggested using the Byw a Bod students to be part of the event, eg Byw a Bod Digidol to look after the technical side etc. He wondered whether it would be possible to invite other LEADER areas such as France. Innovative venues such as Bounce Below, Harlech Castle, Felin Uchaf were mentioned in passing. Members were asked to send any ideas for venues/speakers/talks to ZP. 7.4 EU Referendum Following the EU referendum decision, ST said that a Free Wales Rally had been organised on Castle Square, Caernarfon on Saturday ( ) and that all were welcome. LlR asked for an explanation about how the result of the referendum will impact on the AGW schemes. The funding side as well as how much time is left to implement the project. DRG confirmed that the situation is unclear at present but the Welsh Government had said that everything is to carry on as usual. AJG asked if the LAG could send a positive message to the Government, about all the work that has brought great benefits to Gwynedd. ZP confirmed that this could be done through our quarterly reports and our work on the social media 8

channels. ZP said that the situation is not clear at present, and any information we receive will be sent on to LAG members as soon as possible. IG said he wanted to thank the group and all AGW officers. He believed that the scheme was an extremely positive one. As he has now moved to a new post, he will no longer be able to be a member of LAG as a representative of the Snowdonia National Park. MJ and the group thanked IF for his dedication and hard work over the last year and wished him well in his new post. It was confirmed that AGW officers will contact Snowdonia National Park to have a nomination for a new representative. Date of Next Meeting Date of next meeting 28 th September at 1pm, Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, DOLGELLAU LL40 2SW. 9
