National WASH coalitions will be supported by the WSSCC to carry out a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness of politicians and general public alike on the importance of sanitation and hygiene. Activities include indaba's and conferences, media campaigns, community clean-up campaigns, mobilisation of school children, trainings and workshops. Radio products will be locally produced and distributed. WSSCC: Objective is to raise awareness and promote media coverage of WASH issues in developing countries. For IYS, a compilation of the best sanitation related stories will be printed in a special edition. UNDP: 1. Development of training materials and guidelines through CapNet 2. Re-issue of Sanitation and Cleanliness for a Healthy Environment (Hesperian/UNDP) as a special IYS edition

WSSCC,, UNDP/CWI/SGP WSSCC: The WSSCC Trust Fund (hosted by WHO) will make available grants for sanitation and hygiene for people who lack adequate sanitation, through programmes that include demand creation and hygiene promotion and that respond to the needs and wishes of the target group. With an initial focus on 8 countries in Africa and Asia, the Trust Fund aims to be operational by January UNEP/GPA: Also link the trust fund with the One UN Approach; UNDP: 1. Encourage communities to submit sanitation proposals to UNDP Community Water Initiative in 2008; 2. encourage proposals by UNCTs on sanitation interventions under the Spanish MDG Achievement fund Develop MDG Sanitation Roadmaps at Country Level; Strengthen Sanitation Policies and Strategies at Country Level; Develop Guidelines for the inclusion of Sanitation in SWAPs, PRSP's, etc; Strengthen social marketing/total sanitation approaches at all levels & Others Governments DESA: Participate in support of sanitation inventory- road map -strategy- action plan... when key actor at national level through major TC activities : Chad; Madagascar;Togo; Mauritania. Explore and expand the Private Sectors role in marketing sanitation at Country level & Others Leverage funds and additional budget allocations for sanitation Sanitation in Emergencies (all components) & Others Decision model for selection of appropriate sanitation systems Guidelines for establishing small sanitation utilities
