1 INFORMATION & APPLICATION FORM Ref: Non-Accredited Visitor Information Services It is essential that applicants read all the information provided to be able to complete the application form correctly. There are a range of non-accredited visitor information services however only information bays or lay-bys, that meet the criteria below, can be signposted on the State road network. Applicants must apply to TASAC for signage (white roman i on a blue background) on the State road network. Information bays or lay-bys These comprise of roadside rest areas where an information component is included in its design. These facilities must provide: An accurate high quality map of the region and local area showing: Accredited Visitor Information Centres with the AVIC symbol Major and other tourist attractions Accommodation and other visitor services Relevant driving and/or road safety tips as appropriate for the region Contact details for attractions and accommodation providers that are included on the map Emergency contact numbers Completing the Application Form To be favourably considered for signposting, applicants must demonstrate that they meet all the relevant criteria. Please provide as much detail as possible, including documentary evidence and supporting material, to demonstrate the application meets the criteria to be eligible for signposting in all parts of the application form. Generally simple Yes/No answers are insufficient. Do not be limited by the space provided on the application form and attach additional pages as required. When all the relevant Parts and Sections of the Application Form have been completed, and supporting information attached, please send it to the TASAC Secretariat. 3 Conditions If your attraction qualifies for white on brown signposting, it is your responsibility, as the operator, to ensure your attraction continues to comply with the criteria for your type of attraction. If your attraction is found to no longer comply with the criteria the RMS will remove the sign at your expense. Therefore, after you are granted a sign you will need to regularly review your attraction against the criteria to ensure you still comply with it. All tourist signposting is provided on this basis. It is therefore a requirement that operators indicate they accept this condition as part of their application. All approvals are granted for a 5 year period. After this period you will be contacted by TASAC and ask to demonstrate how your product still qualifies for signage. The RMS has an electronic database of all guide signs including tourist signs erected on the State road network in New South Wales. This database provides ready access to TASAC to ensure conformity to this Manual for tourist signposting. TASAC assumes that you have all the approvals, licenses and insurances necessary for you to legally operate. 4 SECTION B: SPECIFIC CRITERIA FOR INFORMATION BAYS To be eligible for signposting Information Bays must meet the following criteria: Provides an accurate high quality map of the local area and region showing Accredited Visitor Information Centres with the AVIC symbol. Provides details of the nearest public telephone if the Information Bay doesn t have a telephone. Relevant driving, road safety tips, etc as appropriate for the terrain. Accommodation and attraction listings Emergency contact numbers 1. Provide photos of the Information Bay highlighting all the facilities available, the layout, distance from the road and area for cars to park. 2. Provide a copy or photograph of the map displayed in the Information Bay, which highlights the AVICs in the area or region. 3. Does the Information Bay have a telephone? Yes No If No, provide a photograph of how and where the details of the nearest telephone are displayed. 4. Provide details of the driving, road safety tips, etc that are provided in the Information Bay (include photos of how and where the information is displayed). Page 4 of 5

5 5. Provide copies of the accommodation and attraction listings at the Information Bay. 6. What Emergency numbers are provided at the Information Bay? 7.
