4 ACI Updates ACI sponsored the 14th HKQMA Convention for the promotion of quality in industry As a corporate social responsible corporation, Support the development of industry has always been one of the corporate spirit of Accredited Certification International Limited (ACI). ACI have been unswervingly implementing her own beliefs about that. Recently, ACI sponsored the 14th HKQMA Convention. HKQMA was established in 1983 and has been actively promoting quality circle activities and quality management methods in Hong Kong. For World Standards Day, each year on 14 October, the members of the IEC, ISO and ITU celebrate World Standards Day, which is a means of paying tribute to the collaborative efforts of the thousands of experts worldwide who develop the voluntary technical agreements that are published as international standards. The Fourth Industrial Revolution has begun, but in order to seize its full potential for the betterment of society, standards are definitely needed. The speed of change we are witnessing would not be possible without them. Innovators rely on International Standards, like those produced by IEC, ISO and ITU, to ensure compatibility and interoperability, so that new technologies can be seamlessly adopted. They are also a vehicle to spread knowledge and innovation globally. For example, security standards can keep our data safe and deter hackers. And safety standards for robots, will make it easier to interact with humans. 5 All Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) contractors are obliged to comply with the List Admission / Retention criteria as mentioned in Section Quality, Environmental and Safety, Part I General Guidelines of the Guide to Registration of Works Contractors and Property Services Providers. Therefore, a contractor shall operate recognized quality, environmental and safety management systems and shall be certified to the current version, i.e. ISO 9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 50001:2018 by a certification body. HA will only accept the certificates bearing the Hong Kong Certification Body Accreditation Scheme (HKCAS) Accreditation Marks HKAS (Accreditation Body, AB) Accreditation is the independent evaluation of conformity assessment bodies against recognised standards to ensure their impartiality and competence. Through the application of national and international standards, government, procurers and consumers can have confidence in the calibration and test results, inspection reports and certifications provided. Accreditation bodies are established in many countries with the primary purpose of ensuring that conformity assessment bodies are subject to oversight by an authoritative body. The Hong Kong Certification Body Accreditation Scheme (HKCAS) under IAF MLA is operated under the auspices of the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS) offers accreditation to certification bodies for quality management system (QMS) certification, environmental management system (EMS) certification, product certification, food safety management system (FSMS) certification, occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) certification, etc. ACI News Issue No Page 4

7 Hot Training delivered an ISO 39001:2012 Road Traffic Safety Introduction training to Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd. on 23 Oct 2018 Accredited Certification International Limited (ACI) has recently delivered an ISO 39001:2012 Road Traffic Safety (RTS) Introduction training to Kowloon Motor Bus Co. (1933) Ltd (KMB). This training is suitable for the public and private sectors whose interacted with RTS. The objective of this training was to let the staff understanding the principle of road traffic safety management and deepen their knowledge about certification process and its necessary requirement. KMB as a one of the important public transport operators with more than 85 years experience operating franchised public bus services in Hong Kong. It provides extensive public bus services covering Kowloon, the New Territories and Hong Kong Island. The main purpose of ISO 39001:2012 is to reduce the numbers of serious and fatal accidents. Under the guidance of this belief, ASLL staff also showed great enthusiasm help different people who really need others helping hands through donations. Recently, ACI donated to Good Try Theatre s drama Feudal and Civilization - Braid Cutting. Good Try Theatre was founded in 2011, is made up of a group of retired people who love stage plays. Through the performances in the community including elderly homes and schools. They hope to entertain people, serve the community and promote drama. Participate in donation shows that ACI enthusiasm for development of the arts, it s a basic responsibility of the enterprise to feed back the society and ACI has proved her mission in action.
