1 Cramer Named Student-Athlete of the Week Presented By: Picture of the Week Cramer MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 17, 2017) - After leading the Mountaineers to a series win over No. 3 TCU, West Virginia University senior Jackson Cramer has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments. A native of Coppell, Texas, Cramer had a strong week, leading West Virginia with seven hits, a.867 slugging percentage, 13 total bases, three doubles and finishing second with four RBIs and four walks in four games, all against top-25 opponents. Cramer had a hit in every game against TCU, including a team-best two hits, three RBIs and two walks in the finale. He drew a walk with the bases loaded in the ninth inning on Sunday to bring home the game-tying run in the ninth inning. Cramer also had a home run last week, his team-leading seventh of the year, and is in the top- 10 in the Big 12 Conference in RBIs, total bases, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and runs scored. 2 Randy Mazey This Week in Baseball: West Virginia returns to the road for its next five games, beginning with a matchup versus in-state foe Marshall on Tuesday, April 18, at 6 p.m. ET at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, West Virginia West Virginia has won five of the last six and 14 of the last 17 in the series, including a 14-7 win at home on April 4 WVU then travels to Kansas State for a weekend series from April the series begins on Friday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday s first pitch is set for 5 p.m., and the series finale in Manhattan, Kansas, will begin at 1 p.m. links to live streams, radio broadcasts and live stats for all four games this week, as well as ticket information for Tuesday s game at Marshall, can be found on the baseball schedule page on WVUsports.com. Last Week in Baseball: West Virginia went 2-2 last week, all against top-25 teams the week began with a 7-6 loss at No. 21 Maryland and was followed by a series victory against No. 3 TCU, with two walk-off victories the series began with a 5-4 win on Friday, April 14, as a sacrifice fly by sophomore catcher Ivan Gonzalez drove in the winning run after TCU had tied the game at 4-4 with a three-run ninth inning while ending TCU s 13-game winning streak, junior starter BJ Myers had another dominant outing, pitching 8.1 innings and allowing just two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and a walk the WVU offense scored early and led 4-1 in the fifth inning, as TCU starter Jared Janczak pitched a season-low 4.2 innings and gave up a season-high four runs on six hits the Horned Frogs rallied for an 8-6 win on Saturday to even the series, scoring five runs in the eighth after WVU scored runs in each of the first four innings the Mountaineers again walked off to win the series on Sunday, 5-4 WVU scored two runs on no hits in the ninth inning, thanks to four walks and a hit batter senior Jackson Cramer walked, forcing in the tying run and sophomore Darius Hill walked in the winning run with two outs West Virginia s bullpen combined to allow no runs on six hits with eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings before TCU closer Durbin Feltman blew his first career save in 19 attempts in the ninth. 3 Jimmy King This Week in Rowing: The Mountaineers will return to the water this weekend for a pair of races, on Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April WVU will take on Duquesne and Dayton on the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh on April the following day, the Mountaineers will travel to Fairfax Station, Virginia, to compete in the George Mason Invitational. Last Week in Rowing: WVU was off last week. Notes: Saturday s meet against Duquesne marks the second time the two teams have faced off this season... The Mountaineers and Dukes met on November 11, in a scrimmage in Morgantown... nine teams will compete in the George Mason Invitational on Sunday April The Mountaineers will take on two Big 12 foes, Kansas and Old Dominion, in the event, along with Dayton, George Washington, George Mason, Buffalo, Delaware and Eastern Michigan. Jason Butts This Week in Gymnastics: The Mountaineers (13-10, 3-3) have concluded their 2017 season. Last Week in Gymnastics: Junior Zaakira Muhammad scored and finished 15th in the all-around in the second semifinal session of the 2017 NCAA National Championships on April 14, at Chaifetz Arena, in St. Louis, Missouri included in her night was a tie for eighth place on floor exercise with a season-high mark, giving her All-America Second Team honors Muhammad also scored on vault and placed 21st with a 9.8 on uneven bars, good enough for a share of 31st place she also tallied on balance beam. Notes: Muhammad opened the meet on floor and earned the second-highest mark of the rotation her floor score is a WVU record at the NCAA National Championships, besting the previous mark of she is the first Mountaineer gymnast to earn All-America honors at the NCAA National Championships since 2007 sophomore Kirah Koshinski earned NACGC/W Regular-Season All-America Second Team vault accolades in March, giving WVU two All-Americans in one season for the second time in program history and the first time sincee 1994 Muhammad s bars mark matched the program NCAA Championships record, first hit in 2000.

4 Sean Cleary This Week in Track and Field: The Mountaineers travel to a pair of meets on April 21-22, as select members will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, to compete at the Virginia Challenge while others head to the Jesse Owens Invite in Columbus, Ohio. Last Week in Track and Field: The Mountaineers had strong performances in field events at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, winning four events on April throughout the two-day event, West Virginia collected four wins, while sweeping all three jumping events WVU s first victory came from senior Marseille McBeam in the women s high jump McBeam won with a season-best mark of 1.70 meters, improving.05 meters from her then-best mark at the George Mason Spring Invitational the second win was from junior Shamoya McNeil in the women s triple jump, marking a career-best and the second-best mark in WVU history at meters McNeil improved.21 meters from her previous best set at this year s Raleigh Relays sophomore Danique Bryan notched a victory in the women s long jump, leaping a career-best of 6.28 meters, to earn the fourth-best mark in school history WVU s fourth win came from sophomore Madelin Gardner, as she won the pole vault with a career-best clearance of 4.00 meters, moving to second on WVU s all-time top-five list in the event she improved.09 meters from her previous best set last year Gardner remains tied with WVU alum Erin Nett s 4.00-meter mark set in Notes: Other Mountaineer finishers in the pole vault were freshman Amanda Barnes, who placed 11th with a career-best clearance of 3.70 meter and an improvement of.20 meters freshman Greer Gumbrecht finished 12th, clearing 3.55 meters, followed by teammate junior Rebekah Lafata in 13th with a mark of 3.55 meters redshirt freshman Anna French placed seventh in the women s 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:21.90 junior Brynn Harshbarger finished 12th in a season-best time of 10:36.17 in the women s 800-meter run, redshirt freshman Candace Jones finished seventh with a time of 2:11.78 junior Rebecca Wendt placed 74th with a season-best time of 2:21.00 sophomore Chaqieta Robinson took eighth in the women s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.38 junior Meghan Jean-Baptiste placed 16th in the women s 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of junior Amy Cashin placed 11th in the women s 1,500-meter run invite with a time of 4:26.74, followed by redshirt freshman teammate Candace Jones in 12th with a time of 4:27.32 senior Megan Yuan came in 43rd in 4:38.07 in the 5,000-meter run invite, redshirt freshman Olivia Hill placed 12th with a career-best time of 16: Coach Sean Cleary after the Bison Outdoor Classic: All in all, the weekend was very encouraging for the team. Our jumpers and vaulters had an exceptional weekend. Danique was outstanding today in the long jump, jumping a lifetime best and taking home the win. Not only did she jump a huge personal best, but she followed that jump up with her best series of jumps ever. Not to be out done, Shamoya (McNeil) also jumped into territory she had never experienced before. For the first time in her career she jumped over 13 meters to join a very exclusive club. Maddie in the final event of the meet vaulted 4.00 meters for the first time in her career. The consistency that Maddie showed today will be very valuable as the championship season nears. Marsi (Marseille McBeam) is also finding her form as the season progresses, as she joins Maddie, Shamoya and Danique in the winner s circle. Miha Lisac This Week in Women s Tennis: The Mountaineers (4-13, 0-7 Big 12) return to Morgantown for a pair of matches against No. 8 Oklahoma State on Friday, April 21, and No. 34 Oklahoma on Sunday, April Friday s match is slated to begin at 5 p.m. and is designated as the pink match... on Sunday, the Mountaineers will recognize and thank lone senior Kaja Mrgole as they take on the Sooners... first serve is set for noon... fans are encouraged to come to the match early and take part in the Tennis Tailgate hosted by the Mountaineer Maniacs. Last Week in Women s Tennis: The Mountaineers were off last week. Notes: The tandem of Kaja Mrgole and Christina Jordan earned WVU s first doubles win in conference play on Saturday, April 7, when they knocked off TCU s Caroline Wegner and Donika Bashota... Habiba Shaker leads WVU with an 8-5 record at the No. 1 slot Paula Goetz and Lyn Yuen Choo pace the Mountaineers with a 4-4 record in doubles play... Goetz has won a team-high eight doubles matches.

5 Sean Covich This Week in Golf: West Virginia will head to its second-ever Big 12 Championship the Mountaineers travel to Hutchinson, Kansas, on Saturday in preparation for the 2017 Big 12 Golf Championship teams will play a practice round on Sunday with the tournament set for Monday through Wednesday at Prairie Dunes Country Club golfers will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Last Week in Golf: WVU capped the regular season with a sixth-place finish at the Rutherford Intercollegiate the event was hosted by Penn State at the Blue Golf Course in State College, Pennsylvania Chris Williams posted a top-10 finish to lead the way for WVU Williams shot one under par in the final round, jumping 19 spots take 10th place overall he carded a score of =218 to end the tournament at five over par West Virginia shot 31 over par with a team score of 883 in taking sixth place host Penn State and Ohio tied for the team title at 16 over par with matching scores of 868 Max Sear just missed the top 10, finishing in 11th place. He shot =219 to finish a stroke behind Williams at six. Notes: Chris Williams recorded his third top-10 finish of the season at the event he has now posted back-to-back top-10 finishes as he previously took eighth place at the East Carolina Intercollegiate last week Max Sear continues to lead the squad with a scoring average Alan Cooke ranks second on the team at Sear just missed earning All-Big 12 honors at the 2016 Big 12 Championship, finishing in 12th place Sear, Cooke, Williams, Tristan Nicholls and Easton Renwick became the first-ever Mountaineers to compete in a Big 12 Championship in Coach Sean Covich after the Rutherford Intercollegiate: That was not the closing round we wanted, but it was good for us to play in these high winds as we get ready for Big 12s out in Kansas next week. Chris (Williams) played really well out there today, and Tristan (Nicholls) was solid as well. We look forward to competing at Prairie Dunes next week.
