The Records include some materials pertaining to the College's predecessor organizations: the Burlington Collegiate Institute and Commercial College ( ), Queen City Collegiate Institute and Commercial College ( ), Burlington Business College ( ), and Champlain College of Commerce ( ). The Records contain manuscripts, photographs, academic catalogs, other official College publications, student publications, event programs, correspondence, audio recordings, films, ephemera, and artifacts. These materials were generated by the College s trustees, presidents, faculty, staff, consultants working for the College, students, and outside journalists. The materials consist of academic catalogs, other official College publications, event programs, photographs, correspondence, memoranda, meeting minutes, reports, published student work, marketing materials, press clippings, audio and video recordings, ephemera, artifacts, and others. Manuscripts and images are in both print and digital formats The Records are updated and augmented regularly as items are published, distributed, or transferred from active use within College departments. The bulk of the Champlain College Records is open for research. Some files containing student, personnel, and legal information are restricted from view for a distinct period of time, frequently fifty years from the latest date of the materials in those files. Some files are accessible only to current Champlain College trustees, faculty, and staff. Additional files are open for viewing with restrictions on copying or otherwise disseminating the information and images contained within.
