5 Work Force Letter regarding the Sanpete County work To whom this may concern: My name is Randall Clayton. I'm writing this note to anyone who may have a need for the best work force that I have ever found in my 30+ years of manufacturing experience. Why do I say this? After helping start up six different manufacturing plants in four different locations across this great nation of ours, I can say with out a doubt that the people in Sanpete Valley are the most dedicated, trained, professional and talented work force that one could ever hope for. Let me tell you why this is. This is not some high fallootin educated study that was done. It is just from my experience of working with thousands of workers over the years. After our move to Ephraim, we were charged with: 1.providing extra light assembly capabilities for our company, 2.learning the art of printed circuit board assembly and providing the rest of our company with p.c. boards, which we had never manufactured before, and 3.reinventing our Heavy Duty Battery Test Equipment line including R & D, engineering, marketing and sales. Keep in mind that except for a turkey processing plant about 10 miles away and a prison about thirty miles away, we would be 'the place to work' in the Sanpete valley! When people heard about our company coming to town, they lined up to apply for work. [The same should be true today.] The light assembly ramp up was a breeze because the previous company that owned the facility was a computer manufacturer. People were trained in that type of work and more importantly wanted to work! The average age of the Ephraim work force was probably years older than our other two facilities. This maturity was great because maturity brought better attendance and productivity and very low turnover. The printed circuit board lines were more of a challenge technically. The printed circuit line supervisor that had previously worked in the facility wanted to supervise the p.c. line again. She preferred the p.c. work to being a turkey proctologist at the processing plant. With her experience, and the ability to hire local technicians and engineers, we were able to get the p.c. line up in record time and install a brand new state of the art surface mount line. We brought all p.c. work in house and provided boards for all three facilities in our corporation. The greatest challenge of all was to bring together all the talent needed to have a stand-alone division by resurrecting our failing test equipment division. To our absolute amazement, we were able to find locally talented managers & engineers in every discipline that we needed. After three years, we had managed to totally revamp our product line and increase sales by about 300%!

6 Work Force - Page 2 The bottom line is that Ephraim has THE BEST work force I have ever experienced. People that live in Sanpete Valley love living there and are now driving miles to work for the privilege of being able to raise their families in such a great place. People want to stay in the valley and will reward any employer with above average dedication to their job for the privilege of having work locally. Many of these workers are eagerly awaiting a decent job again close to home. If you set up shop in Ephraim, you will probably never run an ad for manufacturing jobs again! We rarely did. And finally the facility; It was the finest of our three facilities. The infrastructure is all there for most any kind of light to medium manufacturing. About 60% of the roof is only three years old with a high quality white membrane installed. It is beautifully landscaped with mature trees and shrubs. There are 7+ acres that will allow for expansion if needed. (There is parking for about 110 cars. A security fence surrounds the property. Well, I realize that I have only written a short paragraph on the building that we are selling. You must see it to appreciate what a nice facility is available at a discounted price. You can inspect the building and see what value you are getting but the ultimate value will be in the workforce. If you have any more questions, please give me a call at I will be happy to help you or direct you to someone who can. Sincerely, Randy Clayton

14 History Since the 1850s, Sanpete County's history has revolved around the rivalry of its four leading towns--mt. Pleasant, Gunnison, Manti, and Ephraim. Ephraim, long portrayed as the epitome of "the Utah farm village," refused to concede primacy of place to its nearest competitor, even though Manti captured both the county seat and one of Utah's first four Mormon temples. In the 1950s, Ephraim finally eclipsed all its rivals in size and two decades later passed the Census Bureau's magic 2,500 mark to become Sanpete's only urban place. Brigham Young's appointment of Canute Peterson as president of Sanpete Stake in 1877 enabled Ephraim to serve as church seat and become in 1888 the site of the stake academy, the forerunner of Snow College. The school grew very slowly, not moving into its first permanent building for nearly 20 years. Not until after the LDS Church turned the school over to the state in 1932 did it become a bonafide two-year college. The school now ( ) numbers nearly 2,500 students and rivals agriculture as an economic base for Utah's smallest college town. Snow College has had a much more enduring impact on Ephraim's growth than the ephemeral railways, agricultural businesses, and light industries once located on the west side of town. The college has also made Ephraim the most cosmopolitan place in Sanpete, connecting it with the other towns and the rest of the state through its manifold programs. Education Utah ranks among the leading states in the educational attainment of its population. In the year 2000, 90.7 percent of Utahns aged 25 and over completed high school and 26.9 percent earned a bachelor's degree or higher. The state s system of public, private, and parochial schools provides a high-quality educational experience for the nearly one-half million students in elementary and secondary programs. In 2002, 30,337 high school students graduated. Utah ranked #2 in the nation for higher education spending (Sourcebook 2003) Utah ranks 2nd in the nation for percentage of households with computers (Sourcebook 2003) Utah schools have 93% Internet access in one or more classrooms; the national average is 84.2% (US Department of Commerce, Utah Education Network) In , Custom Fit Training provided training to 20,612 individuals, from 795 companies

From austere pioneer beginnings, Sanpete Valley has grown into an important agricultural center. Sanpete County livestock breeding programs have resulted in purchases and shipments all over the world. Because of its productivity and high quality work done by local residents, industrial firms have come to realize that Sanpete County makes an ideal location for their plants. Products made in Sanpete County are shipped all over the United States. The Mormon Miracle Pageant, held in July each year, attracts 100,000 interested viewers each year. From the Americas before Christ - to New York State in the 1820's - to the present, the Mormon Miracle Pageant spotlights historical and theological Mormonism, in fact and feeling. Sanpete County provides ample parks, picnic areas, tennis courts and swimming facilities. Spacious gymnasiums and lighted athletic fields are also prevalent, accommodating the highly competitive sports of baseball, football, and track. Competitive leagues such as the American Legion, Junior League, Little League, Bantam Basketball, Lions Club and Jaycees organizations, receive the support of the entire community.
