6 Books Written PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY - PUBLICATIONS Live Today Well: St. Francis de Sales s Simple Approach to Holiness. Institute Press (Manchester, NH) August ISBN Sophia Live Today Well is a life-changing-book for anyone who thought they were too busy to grow in holiness. (ARCHBISHOP CHARLES CHAPUT) To describe Live Today Well as massively important and life-changing would be an understatement. Follow the advice in this book, and you will overcome any obstacle that might prevent you from going to heaven. (PATRICK MADRID) Praying with Francis de Sales, in the series "Companions for the Journey" from St. Mary's Press (Winona, MN) ISBN Reviewed by HELEN BONARD, in Catholic Library Association (July 1998) The Book of Job [volume XIII of the series "Bibliographies for Biblical Research"]. Edwin Mellen Press (Lewiston, NY) ISBN The Repentant Job: A Ricoeurian Icon for Biblical Theology. University Press of America (Lanham, MD) ISBN ABSTRACT: In the field of hermeneutics, Paul Ricoeur has fashioned a general theory of interpretation that holds promise for biblical studies. This work applies Ricoeur s theory to the interpretation of the Book of Job. Focusing on the theophany section of this biblical tale (chapters 38-41), and specifically on the words of Job in response to the divine speeches (Job 40:4-5 and 42:2-6), this study offers a philological analysis and phenomenological commentary on the sense and reference of these enigmatic texts. Reviewed by: CARL SCHULZ, Review of Biblical Literature, (Feb 1999) ( This volume deserves to be read. It provides an interesting key to the interpretation of the book of Job and in course establishes the process involved in doing biblical theology. GREGORY VALL, Catholic Biblical Quarterly, vol. 60 (1998), pp DIANNE BERGANT, The Bible Today, (May 1996), p JAMES CRENSHAW, Religious Studies Review, vol.21/4 (1995), p ( This stimulating analysis of the book of Job in light of Ricoeur s hermeneutics goes a long way toward applying theory to a biblical text. Readers will find a useful introduction to Ricoeur, a perceptive examination of crucial passages from Job, and a plausible interpretation of Job s repentance. ) 6
