1 130 Outdoor Track and Field 2001 Championships Highlights Eagles Soar to 2001 Sweep: Three individual wins in field events proved decisive in lifting Wisconsin-La Crosse to victory, May at Millikin. The Eagles totaled 80 points to defeat second-place Lincoln (Pennsylvania) by 20. Wisconsin-La Crosse pulled into a tie with Lincoln (Pennsylvania) for the most team titles in the championships history with six. It also marked the sixth time that the Eagles have won both the indoor and outdoor titles in the same season. Hans Schmidt won the pole vault, Jim Nelson the shot put and Mike Koenning the hammer throw for Wisconsin-La Crosse. Chaz Clemons and Chris Cobbs were individual winners for Lincoln (Pennsylvania). Clemons won the 100-meter dash for the second straight year and Cobbs earned his third consecutive title in the 110-meter high hurdles. Clemons and Cobbs were the only competitors to repeat their 2000 victories in the same event. Raheim Greenridge of Wheaton (Massachusetts) was this year s triple jump champion after winning the high jump in Photo by Clark Brooks/NCAA Photos Michael Taye of Frostburg State has a comfortable lead as he nears the end of the 5,000- meter run.
