1 DIVISION I Field Hockey DIVISION I Championship H i g h l i g h t s Return to Glory: Top-seeded Maryland defeated Michigan in the finals of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship November at Northeastern University. It is the third NCAA field hockey title for Maryland and its first since. After a goal by Maryland s Keli Smith with : remaining in the first half, a tip-in by teammate Carissa Messimer as time expired in the half turned out to be the game winning goal. The second half saw Michigan s Jessie Veith score the first and only goal for the Wolverines with : remaining. Maryland goalkeeper Ashley Hohnstine made a save in the game s closing seconds to preserve the win. The shots by both teams ties the record for the fewest shots in a championship match. Maryland also tied the record for the fewest saves in a championship match with one. All-Tournament Team: Maryland s Rachel Hiskins, Carla Tagliente, Ashley Hohnstine and Keli Smith were named, along with Kelli Gannon, Ashley Reichenbach and Jessie Veith of Michigan, Lesley Irvine and Quan Nim of Iowa and Laura Kline and Katie Stephens of Connecticut. 5 DIVISION II Field Hockey DIVISION II Championship H i g h l i g h t s A Winning Tradition: Bloomsburg (-) claimed its fourth straight NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship November with a - win over Bentley (-). The Huskies scored two second-half goals to secure the win and become the first team at any level of NCAA field hockey to win four consecutive national championships. The first half saw Bentley dominate play but fail to capitalize on eight corners. Momentum shifted in the second half and Huskies senior Bridgett Heckman scored her team s first goal. Bloomsburg s second goal came at the : mark when Belinda Price netted the game s final goal. Bloomsburg played in the finals for the th time in its NCAA championship appearances. 7 DIVISION III Field Hockey DIVISION III Championship H i g h l i g h t s Lions Roar: The College of New Jersey claimed its ninth Division III Field Hockey Championship November with a - win over Amherst. The win gave the Lions a flawless - record for the season, making it the second time in program history they have been undefeated. In the championship game, a scoreless tie was broken at the : mark by College of New Jersey s Jami Holtz. The Lions Kerri Hunt finished the half with a goal at the : mark to give her team a - lead. Amherst got on the board in the second half with a goal by Alie Stechenberg, but could not prevent two more goals by the College of New Jersey squad. The Lions seniors, who were freshmen on the squad that defeated Hartwick -, appeared in the NCAA tournament each of their four seasons.
