The Sycamores won their last match, 3-0, at UW-Green Bay, but were shut out in the previous three at home to Miami (Ohio) (0-4), Northern Iowa (0-1) and Loyola-Chicago (0-1). Offensively Indiana State has scored 12 goals this season, led by three from freshman Sydney Lovelace. Sophomore Marisa Windisch is the overall point leader for Indiana State with seven points on two goals and three assists. The Sycamores have exclusively used freshman Erin Mitchell in goal this season. She has allowed 17 goals, holds a 1.30 GAA and made 45 saves. She also has four shutouts on the season. Five Fresh Faces: The Bluejays continue to get their new class involved this season. Five of the 10 freshman have already scored, boosted by Kaelyn Korte notching a goal and an assist in the Jays 2-1 win over South Dakota State on Sept. 19. The last time Creighton had five freshman score in one season was in 2009, when Sarah Kendall, Alexa Lind, Laura Nasseri, Brittney Neumann and Kat Wright all scored. In just 11 matches this season the Jays have points from Alyssa Jara (3), Korte (3), Jill Richgels (3), Alissa Kohmetscher (2) and Maddie Nelson (2). Neumann Climbing the Jays Scoring Ladder Senior Brittney Neumann notched her 26th & 27th career goals on Friday, Sept. 7 in the Jays 4-1 win over Nebraska Omaha. The goals moved her into a tie for fourth place in Creighton history in goals scored, Neumann is on pace to finish her career among the top three goal scorer for the Jays. Swanson preserved a 1-1 draw with UMKC on Thursday, Sept. 13 with 13. In the Jays preceding match Swanson recorded 11 saves in the Bluejays 1-0 loss to Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Sept. 9. Against the Roos, Swanson faced a season-high 26 shots in the draw, including 22 in the second half and overtime periods. Neumann Notches Fifth Career MVC Offensive Player of the Week Honor, First of 2012 Creighton women s soccer senior Brittney Neumann was named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 11. This the fifth time that Neumann has earned the MVC Offensive Player of the Week honor, the last coming on Sept. 20, The Omaha native scored two goals in the Jays 4-1 win over Nebraska Omaha on Friday, Sept. 7. Neumann s first goal was blasted through the keeper to give Creighton a 1-0 lead, while she dashed on a breakaway from midfield for her second goal to make it a 3-1 contest. Neumann leads the Jays this season in goals (3), points (7), shots (27) and shots on goal (14). Creighton senior Gabriela Guillén returned following start against Team USA: Guillén earned the start for the Costa Rican National Team in a friendly match against the U.S. National Team on Sept. 1 in Rochester, N.Y. Guillén played 89 minutes in the 8-0 loss for the Costa Rican team. This marks the third time that Guillén has played for her home country, playing for the U20 and U17 squads previously, but it was her first opportunity to play for the Costa Rican National Team.
