4 Directions to Kemper Arena From I-29 North KCI Airport: Take I-29 South. Exit 169 South (exit number 2B). Cross over the bridge and turn right at the intersection onto I-35 South. Exit 12th Street, turn right. 12th Street to Genessee, turn left. Genessee to Kemper Arena. From I-35 North: Take I-35 South to downtown Kansas City.Take the US-71 South exit (exit number 3) towards I-70 East.Take Alt West I-670 towards I-35 South/Wichita. Merge into I-670 West. Follow the signs to Kemper Arena. From I-70 East: Take I-70 West towards Kansas City. Take the Alt West/I-670 West/I-35 South exit, merge into I-670 West. Follow the signs to Kemper Arena. From I-70 West: Take I-70 East towards Kansas City. Take the I-670 East exit.take the Genessee exit (exit 1B).Turn right onto Genessee Street to Kemper Arena From I-35 South: Take I-35 North.Take the I-670 West/Broadway/I-70 exit towards Topeka/St. Louis.Take the I-670 West/I-70 West exit towards Topeka. 5 Fan Shuttles To help you enjoy your stay in Kansas City, we have put together a fan shuttle system to assist you in getting to and from Kemper Arena. The pass allows you to board the shuttle buses that will be traveling from four locations detailed below. The buses will run approximately every 15 minutes. Service will begin one and half (1 1/2) hours prior to the start of each session and end thirty minutes following the end of each session. The Fan shuttle pass is only $17, your ticket to unlimited transportation. Passes can be purchased online at kc_sports_commission/wrestle2003.htm Passes will be sold the week of the championships for $23 in the hotel lobbies of the Hyatt,Westin and downtown Marriott. The buses will make stops at Union Station,Westin Crown Center Hotel, Hyatt Regency Hotel and the downtown Marriott Hotel. If you are staying at other properties, you can park at Union Station and catch the shuttle. Parking spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parking There is ample parking available at Kemper Arena. City owned lots are $10. Surrounding privately owned lots set their own prices. Housing If you have not made housing arrangements, contact our housing hotline toll free at or online at Airport Transportation The Kansas City International Shuttle departs every half hour for downtown, Crown Center, Plaza, East Kansas City and Johnson County. 6 NCAA Fan Experience Plan to visit the NCAA Fan Experience located adjacent to Kemper Arena in Hale Arena.This interactive fan festival showcases the excitement and fanfare of NCAA championships. College sports fans of all ages will enjoy interactive events that test their sport fundamentals while they educate themselves on the NCAA. Scheduled events and interactive games include: five different NCAA sport interactives, an NCAA wrestling photo zone, the NCAA Info Zone, an autograph stage featuring former college wrestling greats, live entertainment and remotes, live television feeds of Entrance "Did You Know" the semifinals and finals, and a food Trailer Play By Play court. Exit "Did You Know" Exit Ticket Tank Photo Cafe Lacrosse Rowing Football Baseball Basketball Opening Ceremonies Plan to attend the 2003 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships new opening ceremonies beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in Hale Arena. The opening ceremonies will coincide with the grand opening of the NCAA Fan Experience. This year s inaugural opening ceremonies will feature the introduction of participating teams, coaches and featured wrestlers, a National Wrestling Coaches Association awards presentation, and appearances by Cael Sanderson, Dan Gable, Bruce Baumgartner and others. Autographs from former college wrestling greats will be available before and after the official ceremonies and the night will conclude with a free concert.

7 The Big 12 Conference As the Big 12 Conference approaches the 10-year mark of its founding Feb. 25, 1994 the organization remains dedicated to celebrating the student-athletes, competitive excellence, scholarship, sportsmanship, and competitive equity. Dedicated to achieving the highest goals in the integration of academic and athletic endeavors, Baylor, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State,Texas,Texas A&M, and Texas Tech combined forces in 94, and formed the Big 12 Conference a league covering seven states and encompassing over 40 million people (2000 U.S. Census). The principles of fair play, sportsmanship, rules compliance, and national respect for each student-athlete and team within the Big 12 framework can give both fans and foes a greater respect for the types of people competing and coaching in the Big 12 Conference. The solid athletics traditions at the 12 schools are evident as studentathletes/alumni have claimed more than 800 NCAA crowns and 170 national team championships. Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation The Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation is a privately funded not-for-profit organization.the mission is to enhance the quality of life and economic success of Greater Kansas City by taking the lead in maintaining and selectively acquiring a diversity of amateur and professional sports, as well as collaborating with area economic development agencies in the attraction and retention of amateur and professional sports organizations.another objective of the sports commission is to promote lifetime benefits of sports to the youth.
