[EWB GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP PROGRAMME 2018-19] EWB Global Citizenship Programme 2018-19 is now OPEN for application. Students studying engineering and science subjects at tertiary education institutions in Hong Kong are welcome to apply. The Programme aims to provide a platform for future engineering leaders to explore the global challenges, to serve the society proactively with global vision, and hence to contribute to the sustainable development goals as global citizens, through the followings: 1. Understanding real world sustainability issues; 2. Developing sustainable and innovative engineering solutions; 3. Contributing their technical expertise related to their future career, 4. Offering technical support to the disadvantaged communities. GCP Programme is a yearly programme, students are highly recommended to participate the activities throughout the Programme. In the GCP, participants will be able to get involved in capacity building and community services, and have networking opportunities with the engineering community / social development sectors in Hong Kong and Myanmar. They can also obtain experiential learning experience through direct participation of engineering-based service projects. Core Elements of the Programme 1. Workshops and seminars in Hong Kong by practising professionals; 2. Participation into Service Projects in Hong Kong and Myanmar; 3. Exploration of the social, engineering, public and private sectors in Myanmar; 4. Post-trip evaluation, ideation and service project planning workshops; 5. Meetings with mentors from engineering and social development sectors; 6. Networking with the industry professionals and peers. Engineers, who possess technological solutions to global development problems and challenges, play an important role in promoting sustainable development and implementing innovative solutions. Engineering and science students graduating today will work locally and globally. It is important to prepare students graduating today for global engagement and the mindset of Global Engineer, ready to new challenges in the 21 st Century.
