Dear Junior Varsity Players and Families, July 25th, 2017 As we under a month away from August 21, I wanted to get the information for the start of football to you right away. The main focus of this letter is to update you on the requirements for the upcoming season. Attached are a list of costs, a medical form, and other important documents for you to sign. Please have the medical form filled out by your doctor as soon as possible. It is to be handed in on registration day. As per ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO PLAYER WILL BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE and/ or PLAY UNTIL THE MEDICAL FORM IS SIGNED AND STAMPED BY A DOCTOR. To avoid the rush in late August, we suggest you have this done as soon as possible to prevent any delay in participation. There is a large amount of paperwork involved in the registration process. Please take time to sign all the forms listed on the next page under attached to email. These need to be brought to registration day. Vancouver College, lead by our Trainer Rick Gazzola, has taken a lead in establishing high school policy on concussion diagnosis and treatment through active BCHSF committee involvement. Again this year, we will be doing baseline concussion testing using an internet program. Information will be handed out on registration Monday and the boys can take the test at home. We have, and will continue to treat concussions in a serious and professional manner under the guidance of Rick Gazzola and our team doctor, Dr. Gary Koss. Please note the following: Registration day is Monday August 21st from 9:30AM 10:30 AM next to the HPC *Medical forms, all other forms and registration money are due at this time. You will also get your locker at this time (If you don t have one). Bring your equipment with you (if you brought it home) to put it into your locker. * Practices for the JV team starting Monday August 21st from 9:30-4:00. Practice will be each day following from August 22nd - 25th from 11:00-4:00. Week two practices will be from Aug. 28th & Aug. 29th from 11:00-4:00. On Aug 30th and Aug 31st we will practice from 3:30-5:30. On September 1st we will practice from 9:00 AM - 12:30.

Practice will be from 3:00-5:30. (We may start a little earlier, it will be based on the middle school schedule for that day.)

Our registration is a bit different this year. We are doing an on-line portion and paper forms. ***Everyone must go on-line to complete this part of the registration process, regardless of if you are paying by cc, cash or cheque*** Please read the below carefully: 1. Monday August 21st: 9:30 am - pick up short/t-shirt and drop off all forms and money (if cash or cheque) if not paying by credit card. Players should be here at 9:30 am to get this done. 2. Payment can be completed any time before Monday August 21st by logging on to: https://www.vc.bc.ca/extracurricular/athletics/teams-schedules/football/jv-football/jv-footballregistration 3. Payment can be done online with credit cards. If you are paying by cash or cheque you can send that in with your son on the 21st. 4. You will notice the amounts are different if you pay on-line using credit card. This covers the administrative fees we incur for cc transactions. 5. Families that require a bursary should still complete the process online and can pay part online if using a credit card or bring a cheque/cash in. 6. Everyone must go online to complete this part of the registration process, regardless of if you are paying by cc, cash or cheque. This will also serve as your tax receipt. A breakdown of the fees is below. These costs and others are subsidized by our school budget, program sales and any revenues generated by home game gates and concession. PLEASE REMEMBER: if the fees are still a problem please email Andrea Prout-Bernett directly: abernett@mail.vc.bc.ca Please don't let financial concerns cause stress about your son playing; talk with us. If you need help, we will work something out.

The costs are listed in detail. No player will be denied the opportunity to play due to financial difficulty. If you need financial help to play football, talk to Mrs. Prout-Bernett on registration day or email: abernett@mail.vc.bc.ca and we can work out a payment plan or discuss a bursary. We encourage all of our students to play, regardless of any issue. Please get in touch if there is anything we should know. We will help everyone who legitimately needs it. Itemized cost breakdown.
