James F. Reville Scholarship (Nominations Due From Chapters)
James F. Reville Awarded to students enrolled full-time in any year of their college training in a field related to intellectual and other developmental disabilities. About the Award JAMES F. REVILLE dedicated a great part of his life to bettering the lives of people who have intellectual and other developmental disabilities. He served as President of the Welfare League Chapter from 1963 to 1964, was a member of the organization s Board of Directors for several years and served as the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee for the National Association for Retarded Children in 1970. Governor Nelson Rockefeller appointed Mr. Reville to the Advisory Council on Mental Retardation Facilities and to the Developmental Disabilities Council. Mr. Reville was one of NYSARC s most respected Presidents, serving the Association from 1965 to 1969. Application Information Eligibility Criteria: Awarded to students enrolled full-time in any year of their college, training in a field related to intellectual and other developmental disabilities in New York State. Amount: Two awards are presented annually. The award is in the amount of $3,000.00 per recipient which is paid in installments of $750.00 per semester for any two years the student is enrolled in college within a fouryear period from the time the scholarship is awarded. People currently receiving a NYSARC, Inc. Scholarship are not eligible to receive simultaneous scholarships. Nomination Process: follows: The requirements for consideration for the James F. Reville Scholarship are as 1. The nominated person has been actively involved in serving individuals who have intellectual and other developmental disabilities in some capacity. 2. A submission letter signed by the president of the local Chapter s Board of Directors as well as letters of recommendation from programs where they have worked or volunteered must be included with the application. Each Chapter may submit only one application. Application Information/Deadline: The name of one individual must be submitted on the appropriate Application Form along with the additional information requested in the application. All applications must be submitted to the NYSARC, Inc. State Office by the deadline date indicated on the application. ** Please refer to Application for deadline dates. Applications received after the deadline date will not be considered eligible for the James F. Reville Scholarship. Faxed copies will be accepted. Announcement of Recipient: The winners of the James F. Reville Scholarship will be announced at the Spring Board of Governors Meeting. January 2012
