eprescribe eprescribe is a new function to send prescriptions electronically to a pharmacy As a Physician or Physician Assistant, you can also: Review Rx plans (eligibility) for patients Review External Rx History Document a patient s preferred pharmacy
Rx Plans (Eligibility) Select the patient s health plan from the Rx Plans drop-down Medications will be preceded by the selected Rx plan s formulary indicators Checking eligibility, and selecting formulary and preferred medications where appropriate, will save phone calls from the pharmacy requesting an approved Rx substitution.
External Rx History The External Rx History button is on the Orders and Medication List tabs External RX History information from: Community pharmacies Pharmacy benefits managers Use of External Rx History requires patient consent
External Rx History - Two options are available in the drop down. - Select view if nursing has already imported the patient s medication history.
External Rx History Rx history display: The retrieval default is Last 12 months Narrow or expand the focus with the drop-down menu
External Rx History Two options to view multiple fills of a Rx: Click the in the far left column Check the show individual instances of external Rx medication history
External Rx History Entries can be converted into prescriptions: Right click > Convert to Prescription A pill bottle icon will appear next to the medication Click Orders for Signature at the bottom Make any additional corrections or selections (including the routing to a pharmacy) Sign The prescription will appear in the orders tab
Entering Prescriptions To prescribe a documented home medication or inpatient medication click the radio button under the pill bottle during Discharge Med Reconciliation.
Entering Prescriptions To prescribe addition medications select Add and validate the type is Discharge Meds as Rx
Search for Medications Type the medication name in the Find field The name of the medications are written as product level synonyms meaning the medication name and dose are listed.
Prescription Order Sentences The most common sentences and quantities are listed Select the product Select the desired sentence Select OK Any sentence may be modified
Send To: (Routing the Rx) The medication is now listed The default printer displays in the Send To: field
Send To: (Routing the Rx) Find pharmacy is the first selection when a pharmacy is not yet entered for the patient The preferred pharmacy is the first selection when previously entered for the patient
Searching for a Pharmacy If no Patient Preferred selection is available and Find Pharmacy is selected, the Prescription Routing window will open in the search tab Begin typing the pharmacy name The City and State fields are defaulted to the patient s home city and state
Select the Pharmacy A list of matching pharmacies will populate the list area Double-click to select the correct pharmacy routing location
Verify and Sign Verify the order details and routing location for the Rx Make any necessary modifications to the order Sign This is the first verification of the Rx
Electronic Prescription Preview The preview gives a final opportunity to verify and modify the Rx Selecting Modify re-opens the scratch pad on the orders tab for modifications Verify routing location Verify Rx accuracy The prescriptions are grouped by ordering provider and pharmacy/ routing location ALL will be routed at this final Sign
Double Authentication For a control substance, double authentication will be required before sending. Either a fingerprint or ID Token Cerner Password
Where to Find Prescribed Medications Depart summary Medication List Orders tab Medication Reconciliation Prescribed medications will frequently be indicated by the Rx icon
erx Routing Errors Routing error messages are in Message Center under the Pools folder. The System will make several attempts to deliver the prescription electronically before reporting an error. You will be assigned to one or more pools based on the number of facilities where you practice.

erx Routing Errors Resend Options: Call the pharmacy (From: > click on pharmacy name > Renewal Details from Pharmacy) The Rx cannot be resent electronically
Patient Pharmacy The new menu bar button Patient Pharmacy allows the user to quickly add a preferred pharmacy location to the patient record The Preferred Pharmacy information is retained in the patient s record for future encounters To access this function, click on the drop-down to display additional selections The toolbar can be customized to make the button appear face up
Patient s Preferred Pharmacy When the correct pharmacy is found in Search: Right click > Add The pharmacy is now added to the Patient Preferred tab and is the default pharmacy for future prescriptions. Multiple Patient Preferred pharmacies can be listed, only one will be the default.
