Page 2 of 7 General Guidelines and Policies for Grant Submission Introduction The National Pancreas Foundation (NPF) is a private, non-profit organization established to support the funding of research related to pancreatic diseases. It also provides support for the men, women, and children who are suffering from diseases of the pancreas. Eligibility Applicants must be employed by an institution engaged in health related research. The applicant further must agree to be supervised by the institution at all times while conducting research supported by the NPF. In cases of a change in institutions while applying for, or utilizing funds from the NPF, applicants must notify the NPF, and will be subject to review based upon the change in circumstances. The research must be in the field of pancreatic diseases. Studies intended to advance knowledge in the areas of pancreatic carcinoma, and all forms of pancreatitis would be the closest to the areas of interest of the NPF. Studies more closely related to diabetes will not be accepted. If the proposed research is part of a multicenter study or another larger ongoing study, please specify how NPF funds will contribute to the study and why the study could not be completed without NPF funds. Terms Grants will be made for one year only. The maximum award will be $50,000 for one year. Funding is to cover direct costs only, and costs should be reflected in the budget. Selection Criteria All proposals received and accepted for review will be reviewed by the Grant Review Council. The members of this committee are all physicians/researchers with special interests in the field of pancreatic diseases. They will review the proposals and make recommendations for funding based on the merit of the proposed research, including its relevance to the field of pancreatic diseases. The Committee will make a report to the Boards of Directors. Only by vote of the Board can proposals be accepted for funding. Applicants will be notified as to the actions of the Board soon after they meet. Non-Profit Statement The NPF is a non-profit organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Funding can only be granted to institutions that can attest to their similar non-profit status.
