The three cents a meal offering returns on September 6. The first two of every three cents received will go to support the Global Food Crisis Fund which assists in developing food security for the hungry throughout the world and the third cent will support the Caring Cupboard and its mission to help those in need in our community. We gave over $1,000 the past two times. Can we make it three in a row? God is waiting to do great things with your contributions. Comings & Goings: Gail Wagner will be on vacation Friday, September 4. Donate your loose change! Change for Change cans have been located throughout the Sanctuary for the months of July and August. Donated money will go to the Church of the Brethren Nigeria Crisis Response Fund. Tears are not Wasted is the title of but one of the sensitive, thought-provoking poems written by our own Poet-in-Residence, Karen Haldeman. Many of her introspective poems have been published in a volume entitled The Presence of Absence, a beautifully illustrated poetry book which will be available for purchase at a book signing to be held in the library during Fellowship Time today. Today at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall Everyone is encouraged to attend this important meeting to launch and explain an Assessment Study, which is designed to get critical input from the congregation to guide upcoming improvements and renovations to our building. At this meeting you will get an update from the Renovation Implementation Task Team, packets containing the Assessment Study questionnaires, an opportunity to ask questions and offer ideas, and a chance to schedule your interview. Questionnaire packets, with instructions for participation, will be mailed to those unable to attend. We consider attendance, if at all possible, a high priority in facilitating good communication and building community as we move forward. Help is needed! The smaller nursing homes in the Palmyra area rely on area churches for their Sunday worship services. PCOB has been asked to provide the Palmyra Nursing Home services for Sundays in September at 2:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with these worship experiences.
