Volume 8 Issue 3 March 2017 Comrades and Ladies, Since we have nomination and election of officers occurring in Mar. and Apr. and I have had questions about them, I would like to send out the duties of the post officers. These are paraphrased by me as some of them are quite extensive and we have limited space. Regards to All, Jim From the Commander In This Issue From the Commander Officer Job Descriptions From the Canteen Manager The Making of a Leader by Bob Myers From the Canteen Manager Adjutant s Report Classifieds From the Canteen, Happy March everyone! Is it Spring yet?? We're almost there... This month I would like to update all of you that the House Committee has reexamined our Canteen House Rules. There has been some changes made, so please take some time and familiarize yourselves with them. There are several copies floating around the Canteen/Post. I have also held a meeting with the bartenders and given them copies as well. I've asked them to card the members of all of the organizations that the VFW honors as receiving the canteen privileges. It is a privilege to belong to such a wonderful place filled with Veterans and their families! I've also asked that they make sure that any member that brings in a guest, is signed in. We are not an open post. However I think its great to see friends and families of our friendly members. Also know when signing in your guest(s) you are excepting responsibility of them. 2016-2017 Officers 2016-2017 Auxiliary Officers Event Flyers March Calendar The Back Page Okay, enough of that, let's move on to some lighter topics...beginning this month on Wednesdays we will be offering fajitas AND enchiladas every Wednesday. We will also add a chicken or steak soft taco to the menu for $2.50. Chili will still only be offered every other week. St. Patricks' Day falls on Friday this year! :) We will be serving our Corned Beef and Cabbage as an all day special. Starting at noon until 7pm or until we run out. Come in that day wearing your GREEN SHIRT and receive $1.00 of your first beverage ordered. There will also be a basket raffle that evening and of course the one and only "Mr. Grooves" for your entertainment. Josh and Christal will also each have a drink special that evening...mmm. Looking forward into April, we will be having our Easter Brunch from 10-2. There will be no breakfast orders off the menu that day. Our spread will feature...ham, bacon and sausage patty. Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and country potatoes. Then also, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. There will also be fruit and veggie trays in addition to tossed salad and a pasta salad.. don't forget the dessert! We will have that too. That's all for now! I hope to see you all around the Post soon. Until then stay well, take care and God Bless us all. Michelle Rex

From the Adjutant Fellow Comrades First Round of officer nominations for 2017-18 year will be held during March 9 post meeting. If anyone is interested in becoming a post officer, please come to the next membership meeting. We recently lost one of our fellow comrades, Herb Lavin. Herb has truly done a lot for our post, after all Herb is the Poppy King of Post 7824. For me it has been an honor over the years. To get Herb out to VFW meetings. Herb has brought so much of his wisdom to me and our post. He will be missed by all who knew Herb well.
