The SAR Years of Service Pins came in for those members that have been a member for 5 years or more. Our Guest Speaker for the Month of September is Steven Yermish, ESQ. He is an Assistant Public Defender in Dade County, a Scout Master and Cub Master. Nominations for new Chapter Officers for 2018 will occur in October with elections at our November meeting. Anyone interested in serving our chapter as an officer, please contact me or Joe Motes. I would like to bring up and discuss at our next meeting about changing our chapter meeting dates to once a quarter or every other month such as January, March, May, September, and November, also still not having meetings in the summer (June, July, August) and December. I feel this would be ideal for our members and attendance would increase at our meetings The 2017 Southeast Regional Workshop Meeting of the Florida Society, Sons of the American Revolution (FLSSAR) will be held: Saturday, 23 September 2017 Pompano Beach Power Squadron 3701 NE 18th Terrace Pompano Beach, Florida 33064 Please RSVP with the number of persons attending to Popham@earthlink.net or by text message to cell at 305-904-4400. Workshop will start at 11:00 am, and continue until approximately 2:30 pm. This will be an informal setting where anyone who wishes to learn how to use the online research sites will be able to do so, with the help of a few experienced "Mentors" and Registrars. You will be able to work on your own Family Trees, and we will assist you with your Supplementals or original Application whether it be for the SAR, the DAR, the CAR or any other genealogical societies or organizations. A working lunch of pizza and canned beverage, or similar will be delivered. Asking $10.00 PP donation payable at the door in order to offset the room and food costs for the meeting. I received an email from Pat Niemann, Senior Vice President, FLSSAR stating the 127th Congress in Knoxville had very good representation. Next Summer, the 128 Congress will be held in Houston, Texas July 12-19, 2018. Hotel Registration is now open. Cost is $159 per night plus tax. You have two ways to make reservations: By phone: Call 1-800-937-8461. When making the reservation please tell them you are registering at the WESTIN MEMORIAL CITY, HOUSTON FOR THE NSSAR or NA- TIONAL SOCIETY, SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVO- LUTION group rate. On line: Please use the following url to access the site for on line registration: You may have to copy and paste this to your browser. https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/book/nssar2018 If you need handicap accessible room please contact the National Congress Chair so he can adjust your reservation to accommodate your need.
