FALL2017 Great Lakes Athletic Club PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES

REGISTRATION POLICIES 1. GLAC reserves the right to cancel programs with low enrollment. Refunds will be issued to the participant in the manner in which they paid for the canceled class. 2. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations initiated by the participants in any program. 3. Refunds, credits or make-up classes will not be given for classes missed by the participant. Otherwise, makeup classes will be scheduled at the discretion of the instructor or Program Director. 4. Registration is accepted during scheduled registration dates only. A $10 late fee will be applied to all Learn to Swim registrations received after a session registration closes. 5. Registration is accepted on a space-available basis in all programs. 6. Once registration is closed, participants may not switch to another class day and/or time. 7. Additional policies may be found in specific program guidelines. 8. INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICIES Great Lakes Athletic Club follows Lake Orion Community Schools inclement weather policy. Therefore, if there is no school and/or if Lake Orion Community Schools determines that after school and evening programs are canceled, GLAC s children s classes and programs will be canceled as well. EXCEPTION: Martial Arts - See Master Floyd Soo for cancellation policies. REGISTRATION HOW TO REGISTER 1. To ensure proper enrollment, completely fill out the appropriate registration form and confirm that all information provided is correct. 2. A registration form needs to be completed for each class and/or participant enrolling for any program. 3. Payment in full must be provided at time of registration. 4. A Parent or Legal Guardian must register minors. WHERE TO REGISTER 1. We offer two and three hour parties that will be set up, supervised and cleaned by enthusiastic GLAC counselors. Birthday party activities may include rock climbing, gym games and pool time. GLAC will supply pizza, beverages, and all the paper products; you just need to bring the cake and decorations. Minimum 10 children. MARTIAL ARTS KARATE TANG SOO DO (Ages 8 - Adult) Member: $88 Non-Member: $98 Tang Soo Do, more popularly known as Korean Karate, is a Korean Martial art similar to Japanese Karate. This art has evolved into one of the most effective means of unarmed self-defense ever created. Master Floyd Soo has been involved in martial arts since 1967. He holds a sixth degree black belt (Master Instructor Rating) in Moo Duk Kwan-Tang Soo Do. THIS CLASS MEETS TWICE A WEEK. New college students, young adults moving into new apartments, high school girls starting to venture out on their own or ANY ONE who refuses to be a victim; all should be trained in self-defense and these three hour seminars can get you started. GLAC CAMP (Ages 5-12) Are you ready for GLAC School s Out Camp? At camp the children will enjoy time playing sports, swimming, rock climbing, crafts, and most importantly, having fun and making new friends. Bring a swim suit, towel, water bottle and a sack lunch. Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Member Non-Member Daily* $45 $55 Drop-In Registration $55 $65 Pre and Post Care $6/each $6/each Multiple Child Discount: 10% off of the second child and 15% off the third child!** *To receive the daily price, you must register 24 hours in advance. Otherwise you will be charged the drop-in rate. **Discount is available for all registrations except pre and post-care. Discount only available for multiple children in the same family. CAMP DATES December 21st & 22nd December 26th - December 29th January 2nd & 3rd DAILY LUNCH $6 per day Cafe Vitality would like to make your camp experience more enjoyable by offering a meal choice for your children each and every day of camp. The daily lunch price is $6 and will be collected each morning along with the lunch order form at the camp registration desk. SCHOOL S OUT CAMP EXTENDED CHILD CARE (AGES 5-12) Pre-Care $6 (Per Child/Per day) Post-Care: $6 (Per Child/Per day) Great Lakes Athletic Club would like to offer extended care for campers before and after camp. You must pre-register for extended care. If there is no registration, a fee of $15 will be charged for the first 5 to 15 minutes that a parent or legal guardian is late and $1 per minute thereafter. The late pick-up fee must be collected by GLAC at pick-up or before the next day of camp. Pre-Care Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Post-Care Monday - Friday 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. CAMP POLICIES: Campers should wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing for gym activities and weather. Please bring a labeled water bottle, towel, swimsuit, and sack lunch. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the camp participant at check-in. Additional paperwork for the camper is needed before the first day of camp. If the child has not passed a swim test, they will be required to have a lifeguard approved lifesaving device. Water wings are not permitted. Life jackets available upon request. THERE WILL BE A $5 ADMINISTRATION FEE APPLIED TO ALL CAMP CHANGES AFTER YOUR INITIAL REGISTRATION. ALL PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. 5

Our all new postseason training program was designed by former D3 athlete and GLAC Personal Trainer, Garrett Mathu. Garrett has created a program to help kids take their football career to the next level. With a combination of weight room, football specific drills and proper stretching and conditioning, Garrett will help your athlete reach his goals. Not only will we work on sprint mechanics, footwork and direction change, but we ve added a stability component. The demands of youth sports have changed and we have the program that will help your child continue to develop overall athleticism and help reduce the chance of injury. Designed by IYCA Speed and Agility Specialists, the Youth Speed and Agility program will help your athlete become lightening quick! Our program is conveniently held at GLAC, where you can prioritize your health and fitness while your child reaches new heights in athletic development! The increasing demands of travel softball bring an increased need for sports specific training. Coach Jen has developed a program to meet the unique needs of girls who are ready to make an impact on the field! The program will meet in the weight room where girls will be instructed on proper lifting form and progressions. A speed and agility component will conclude the workout along with a brief stretch session. Coach Jen is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She attended the National Personal Training Institute in Rochester, MI and is a Speed and Agility Coach with the International Youth Conditioning Association. This summer Jen coached a variety of athletes in the GLAC Speed and Agility program. She is eager to bring a new level of training to athletes at GLAC! GLAC s Learn To Swim program is proud to be affiliated with the American Red Cross swim program. Our classes will teach your child how to swim skillfully and safely using Red Cross standards and guidelines. PARENT AND CHILD AQUATICS Ages 6 months to about 3 years old. American Red Cross Parent and Child Aquatics will help young children become comfortable in and around water so that when the time comes they are ready to learn how to swim. All participants begin in Parent and Child Level 1 and the parent is required in the water. PARENT AND CHILD Member: $65 Non-Member: $75 30 minute class In Parent and Child your child and you will be introduced to swimming and water safety skills that are developmentally appropriate for infants and children. Some of these skills include entering and exiting water safely, feeling comfortable in the water, exploring floating on the back and front (parents are taught how to hold and support), change body position in the water, explore arm and leg actions to begin experiencing swimming and playing safely in the water. Thursday 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. PRESCHOOL AQUATICS Ages 4 & 5 years old or 3 years if already taken parent and child aquatics. American Red Cross Preschool Aquatics consists of three levels of progressive swim instruction for children about 4 and 5 years old. The child will be in the water without the parent. PRESCHOOL LEVEL 1 Member: $65 Non-Member: $75 Ratio: 1/4 30 minute class In Preschool Level 1 your child is introduced to skills that lay the foundation for future skill development of swimming strokes. The milestones necessary for successful completion include entering the pool independently, submerging mouth and blowing bubbles, exiting the pool safely, gliding, rolling to back and floating and recovering to a vertical position. Tuesday PRESCHOOL LEVEL 2 Prerequisite: Preschool Level 1 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Member: $65 Non-Member: $75 Ratio: 1/4 30 minute class In Preschool Level 2 your child will learn to float without support, recover to a vertical position, explore swimming using combined arm and leg actions and learn basic rescue skills. Completion milestones include gliding on front and back, rolling to back and front and then recovering to a vertical position and swimming using combined arm/leg actions. Tuesday PRESCHOOL LEVEL 3 Prerequisite: Preschool Level 2 1:05 p.m. - 1:35 p.m. Member: $65 Non-Member: $75 Ratio: 1/6 30 minute class In Preschool Level 3 your child will build on skills taught in Preschool Level 2 by receiving additional guided practice, coordinate combining simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions and learning additional safety skills. LEARN TO SWIM LEARN-TO-SWIM Age 6 years and up. American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim is made up of six levels of swimming and water safety instruction for children about 6 years or older. LEARN-TO-SWIM LEVEL 2 - FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS Member: $65 Non-Member: $75 Ratio: 1/6 30 minute class In Learn-to-Swim Level 2 your child will become more independent in the water by floating without support, recovering to a vertical position, exploring various arm and leg actions for swimming on the front and back and learning the foundation for future stroke development. Your child will work towards passing the orange swim band test. Passing this test is NOT an exit skill requirement to pass Level 2. Monday 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. LEARN-TO-SWIM LEVEL 3 - STROKE DEVELOPMENT Prerequisite: Completion of Preschool Level 3 or completion of Learn-to-Swim Level 2 Member: $72 Non-Member: $82 Ratio: 1/8 45 minute class In Learn-to-Swim Level 3 your child will learn the survival float, front crawl, elementary backstroke, scissors and dolphin kicks and the fundamentals of treading water. Your child will work towards passing the orange and/or purple swim band test. Passing this test is NOT an exit skill requirement to pass Level 3. Monday 6:40 p.m. - 7:25 p.m. LEARN-TO-SWIM LEVEL 4 - STROKE IMPROVEMENT Prerequisite: Completion of Learn-to-Swim Level 3 or swim assessment Member: $80 Non-Member: $90 Ratio: 1/8 60 minute class In Learn-to-Swim Level 4 emphasis will be placed on further developing your child s strokes. Focus will include increasing your child s endurance by swimming familiar strokes, learning the back crawl and breastroke and learning the basics of turning at a wall. Your child will work towards passing the orange and/or purple swim band test. Passing this test is NOT an exit skill requirement to pass Level 4.
