Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) specialists will be on hand to assist you in every way possible with one-on-one counseling. HICAP will run a Prescription Drug comparison, assist you in completing an Extra Help application to help with drug costs (for income eligible seniors), and provide counseling on Medicare Advantage Plans, Medigap, Retiree Plans, Employer Group Plans and Medi-Cal. Make sure the plan you have meets your needs! No appointment is required, but please bring your completed Part D Prescription Drug Comparison Worksheet. It is time to go through your closets, spare bedroom, garage and wherever you store the stuff you rarely or never use! Donate your gently used items to the Simi Valley Senior Center and they will be sold on October 26 and 27 in the Rummage Room during the Fall Arts & Crafts Fair. We ask that you bring your items to the main desk by Wednesday, October 24. Please, no clothes or any items that plug in such as microwaves, lamps, etc. All funds raised from the Rummage Sale go directly to fund programs or equipment for your Senior Center.

Age Well, Drive Smart! Thursday, October 25, 2018 1:30-2:30 p.m. Buckle up and join us as members of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Senior Volunteers present their AGE WELL DRIVE SMART educational program. This program is a cooperative effort between the CHP, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the senior driver community and is designed to provide older drivers with the keys to Driving Safer and Driving Longer. Learn about the key physical and functional changes and physical warning signs that we all experience as we age. These important warning signs may be an indication of diminishing driving skills. The presentation also offers tactics for making sure the technology of new vehicles is being used effectively to support the senior driver in their goal to drive safely as long as possible. The AGE WELL DRIVE SMART program is free and provides a take-home workbook seniors can keep and review! Stop by the Senior Center s main desk, or call (805) 583-6363 to make a reservation.
