By the end of this course students will be able to: Discuss the historical significance of health care. Describe the economic impact of health services. Analyze the impact of government on the health science industry. Describe biological and chemical processes that maintain homeostasis. Identify and analyze principles of body mechanics and movement such as forces, and the effects of movement, torque, tension, and elasticity on the human body. Identify stages of human development and related health and wellness concepts. Compare and contrast cultural practices related to health. Identify and demonstrate leadership skills. Compare and contrast the different careers within health care systems, and examine the role of multidisciplinary teams in providing health care. Investigate educational requirements for health care workers and prepare a college plan. Interpret ethical behavior standards and legal responsibilities as a health care provider. Identify and explain the importance of maintaining a safe health care environment. Identify technology used in the health care industry Demonstrate how to use equipment and technology to assess patient vital signs. Grading Per quarter (9 weeks): 10 quizzes @ 10 points each = 100 2 major exams @ 50 points each = 100 1 major project @ 50 points = 50 Total points = 250 (40% quizzes, 60% major exam/project)
