The medium of instruction is English. The course consists of both theory and practical work. PURPOSE Learners who complete the Ancillary Health Care course qualification: -will possess the competence required to perform community health functions under the supervision of a professional health-worker and will add value to their jobs -will make the person more effective in his/her tasks and more employable and will open up job opportunities in related fields They qualified learners will have the fundamental skills required for employment by a range of health, social and other sector employers. Our full-time Social Auxiliary Work course lasts 12-months, with learners spending 70% of their time in the field practice. Throughout your training course Norah Health Academy maintains close contact with the participating field practice organisations, providing close support in order to make the experience a truly educational one. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: Upon successful completion of the Social Auxiliary Work course, you would be able to pursue a rewarding career as a Social Auxiliary Worker at various non-government institutions or the Department of Social Development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION Learners in possession of a Grade 10,11 or 12 Certificate can register, providing that their application has been approved by the Norah Health Academy Selection Committee. COURSE DURATION The training programme period for qualification is 12 months. The Course is divided into two semesters. CREDITS 180 credits (1800 notional hours) at NQF level 4. SAQA ID:23993 ASSESSMENT IN THE SAW PROGRAMME The assessment in this programme consists of theoretical examinations, practical assignments and a summative case study. You have to be competent in all these areas of assessment to qualify for the SAW certificate. EXAMINATIONS Learners write an examination for each module at the end of each of the two cycles. After successfully completing all two cycles, a final end-of-program examination (summative case study) is written. Learners, who are found not yet competent (NYC) in a module during the examination, will be given two additional opportunities to write a supplementary examination.
