Every Wednesday, the students are encouraged to wear blue, and the cafeteria will be serving blueberry yogurt parfaits. Signs of diabetes develop quickly, usually over a period of weeks. Signs to watch for include; increased thirst, extreme hunger, fatigue, irritability, unusual behavior, frequent urination, and unexplained weight loss which is usually the first sign to be noticed. If you begin to see any of these signs in your child, please notify their physician. There have been many students picking up and touching white caterpillars either at home or on our playground. By doing this, the caterpillars cause a rash, as well as, irritation, burning and itching to the skin. I have been informing the students at school not to touch them and would ask that you would please reinforce this at home. Fall is cough and cold season, therefore, if your child is running a fever or has excessive coughing, please keep them home from school until they are feeling better. Make sure they are getting enough sleep, which for elementary aged children is about 10 hours nightly, and drinking plenty of fluids. If you have any questions, I may be reached daily at 330-549-4079. Kim Peterson R.N. 3

Mentorship Program A new mentorship program "Raider to Raider" has been implemented with the start of the 2017/2018 school year. High School Raiders are paired up with Elementary Raiders to lead, inspire and set the example for school related activities. The high school students are selected because of their positive role in the school. Students have been working one on one and in group settings to improve both social and academic goals. We currently have 11 high school mentors. This program has been added to our high school list of elective classes for students to receive credit. Research indicates that ALL students will benefit from the impact of their experience with a positive mentoring program. Pictured are seniors Simon and Solomon Weiss working with a group of fourth grade students. Art Club The Art Club has been busy during the months of September or October. We have had several activities including face painting, decorating the rock and a fall bake sale. Also, Minions are here! Art Club, Ceramics and A/P students have been busy creating the winning minions from the elementary art connections program. Come see them on display in our offices of the K-12 complex. 6
