SCC Freshman Scholarship Program Application W A L T M A R H O N O R S P R O G R A M S C H O L A R S H I P 3 Please review the Waltmar Honors Program Scholarship description and qualifications carefully. All requirements must be met BEFORE semester funds will be disbursed. DESCRIPTION The SCC Honors Program Scholarships are designed to encourage entering freshmen to participate in the SCC Honors Program. Thanks to a donation from the Waltmar Foundation, SCC will offer up to five $500 scholarships to be used toward enrollment fees, books, lab fees, and other classroom expenses. Once all required criteria has been verified by the SCC Scholarship Program Office & the SCC Honors Program, the student will be awarded $500 disbursement prior to the start of the spring semester. MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS: Entering freshman A minimum high school overall GPA of 3.25 Must become a member of the SCC Honors Program and be enrolled in at least one honors class in fall of 2016 Two (2) letters of recommendation on letterhead (at least one from a school official) addressing any of the following: academic performance, character, extracurricular/leadership activities, or academic goals Must be a full-time SCC student (12 units minimum) Must maintain an overall SCC GPA of 3.0 both semesters of the award ADDITIONAL CRITERIA TO BE CONSIDERED IN EVALUATING APPLICANTS: GPA above 3.25 Depth and breadth of courses taken in high school Beyond classroom activities: campus, civic, family activities, community service and degree goal Interview may be required Financial need may be considered Complete a minimum of 2 Honors courses in the first year of enrollment. REMEMBER: Semester funds will not be disbursed until all requirements have been met. Funds are not available prior to registration.

Please review the criteria of each scholarship before you select it on your application. You will only be considered for scholarships that you check off on the application form. A copy of your high school transcript which includes your cumulative GPA. b. One to three letters of recommendation from people who know first-hand of your achievements and your qualifications for the scholarship. c. A personal statement that does not exceed 2 pages double-spaced. 4. Return your completed application and all required attachments by the deadline.
