CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF LLC/ NATIONAL JUNIOR ANGUS ASSOCIATION 2016 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM GUIDELINES AND APPLICATION December 1, 2015 Certified Angus Beef LLC (CAB) and the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) are pleased to support education, youth, and research. A $1,000 CAB/NJAA Scholarship will be awarded to a qualified applicant annually. This scholarship has been awarded annually since 1990. No equivalent work is required from the scholarship recipient. The winner will be announced at the 2015 National Junior Angus Show. Once a qualified applicant s application has been determined complete and eligible for review, it will be considered by the CAB/NJAA Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of three CAB representatives and two NJAA representatives. (If determined necessary by the Committee, an interview either in person or via telephone will be arranged with the finalists). Applicant Qualifications 1. Applicants must have at one time been an NJAA member and must currently be a Junior, Regular, or Life member of the American Angus Association. 2. Applicants must be an enrolling sophomore, junior or senior in a junior college, four-year college/university or other accredited institution of higher education for the fall term in which the scholarship is to be awarded. Scholarship funds are to be applied towards the applicant s undergraduate studies (i.e., Bachelor of Science Degree). Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA (accumulative) to be eligible. 3. The applicant cannot have reached their 25th birthday prior to January 1 of the year of application. 4. The primary course work/declared major of applicants must be in animal science, meat science, food science, agricultural communications or a related field of academic study. 5. If selected to receive a scholarship by the CAB/NJAA Scholarship Selection Committee, the scholarship recipient will be required to verify their enrollment in an institution of higher education by September 30 before the scholarship award check can be issued. Failure to meet enrollment requirements will result in forfeiture of the scholarship. 6. Should the recipient fail to complete at least one semester of full-time enrollment in an accredited or approved institution of higher education prior to June 30, 2017, for any reason, scholarship funds must be refunded to the Angus Foundation. 7. CAB/NJAA scholarship award winners will be eligible to reapply during subsequent award years. Pg. 1-2

Instructions for Completing Application Application is an interactive form that contains fields you can select or fill in. The pointer will change to an I-beam where you can type text into the form field. These fields are set to allow a set amount of data and are not dynamic. If your text amount exceeds this limit, it will not be accepted. Check your data to ensure you have not exceeded the limit and revise your answers to meet the space allotted, if necessary. No additional comments will be accepted. When you are finished, print the pages, sign and date by hand and return them with the other required documents. The application may be reproduced on your computer, but the same allotted space must be given to each of the items and questions in the application. The application is six (6) pages in length. Your application MUST include a copy of your most current official college/university transcript. The transcript MUST be included with the scholarship application when mailed to the Angus Foundation. An unofficial fall semester transcript is acceptable as well. Transcripts sent separate from the scholarship application will not be accepted. Your application MUST include three letters of recommendation. The individuals writing the recommendation letters should include their association with the applicant and a candid evaluation of the applicant s abilities, background, character, strengths, weaknesses, etc. The recommendations may come from employers, teachers, ag leaders, junior advisors, pastors, etc. (Personal references may NOT include applicants, parents, American Angus Association board of directors and/or employees, Certified Angus Beef board of directors or employees) The three letters of recommendation MUST be included with the application when it is mailed to the Angus Foundation. Letters of recommendation sent separate from the scholarship application will not be accepted. May 1, 2016, is the absolute deadline for mailing applications. NOTE: With regard to this deadline, materials mailed must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before May 1. Applications, privately metered, will not be accepted. Letters of recommendation and transcripts are required to be sent with the official scholarship application. We request this in order to help insure that applicants submit a complete and eligible application to the Angus Foundation. IMPORTANT FINAL REMINDER: For a scholarship application to be considered complete and eligible for review by the CAB/NJAA Scholarship Selection Committee, the application MUST: 1) Use 2016 application. 2) Be signed and dated by the applicant. 3) Include three letters of recommendation (see restrictions above). 4) Be U.S. Postal Service postmarked by May 1 of the application year. 5) Include copy of most current college/university transcript. 6) Include member code of the applicant. 7) Application must be completed from the PDF, printed and signed. 8) Mail completed application and ALL attachments to Angus Foundation, 3201 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, MO 64506.
