We struggle hard to provide high quality tertiary care services (speciality & super speciality) to our patients. Due to extreme patient load & financial constraint there may be few deficiencies. MMCRI is the prestigious medical college imparting quality education since its inception to the poor & meritorious students. It has intake of 150 for MBBS course of which 15% will be filled by All India Quota 85% by the State entrance. It has intake of 127 seats for PG courses in which 50% intake by All India Quota. It provides Hostel facilities for men & women for both UG & PG. It has adequate library facilities & the lecture halls have audio visual aids. Medical education unit is actively functioning training the faculty in medical education technique. There are 47 Professor, 39 Associate Professor, 81 Assistant Professors, 34 Senior Residents & 21 Junior Residents/Tutors. The students are talented & participate in cultural & sports activity.
There are 7 lecture halls with the seating capacity of 200 & Auditorium with seating capacity of 800. The school of nursing with intake of 40 per year & college of nursing with annual intake of 100 is attached to this institute. Various Paramedical Courses like, BHW, DOT, DXT, DMRD, DLT, DMLT are run. Total intake of 120. The great visionary his highness late Shri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadeyar founded this Institute. Later in the year 2007 it is registered as autonomous institute & renamed as Mysore Medical College & Research Institute. It is located about 1 km from railway station & 2 km from Bus stand. It runs both UG & PG Courses, BSc.MLT & BSc Nursing & other Paramedical Courses. It has intake of 150 MBBS & 127 intake for Post Graduate courses. It has 3 teaching hospital attached to it namely K R Hospital, Cheluvamba Hospital & PKTB Hospital.

Casualty Located in the Out Patient Block on ground floor accessible through main gate. Contact Number 0821 2423300. Functions 24 x 7 through out the year The casualty medical officer, Nurses & attenders function on shift. Emergency cases, trauma, medicolegal cases are dealt with. CMO after seeing the patient refer the patient to concerned specialist on duty. The consultant after examining treat the patient as outpatient or admit the patient requiring inpatient treatment. The patient seeking emergency services has to get the Out Patient slip after registering by paying Rs. 10/- at the counter adjacent to the casualty. The specialist doctors medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, ENT nurses & paramedics are available in the Out Patient block of K R Hospital & of OBG, Paediatrics & Paediatrics surgery are available at Cheluvamba Hospital & for Chest disease at PKTB Hospital. The treatment will be provided at the earliest possible time. However most patient which are not urgent may have to wait for some time. Treatment gets priority in cases of dire emergency over a paper work. The casualty OT located in the same building has facility to suture & to do life saving procedures like ICD, Cut-done, intubation etc. The medical emergency is located in the same building take care of poisoning, septicaemia, shock patient, has monitors, Nebuliser, central oxygen & suction facilities & defibrillators.
Urgent investigation like blood biochemistry, urine, ECG, USG & X-ray, C T Scan & MRI are available round the clock. All treatment & medicine are provided free of cost for BPL patient & C T scan & MRI at nominal rate. Wheel chair & stretcher trolley facilities available at the entrance of casualty. Ambulance services are available 24 x 7 for nominal charges. Out Patient Services Out Patient services for majority of the specialities are at Out Patient building 2 nd building from entrance gate, ophthalmology at 3 rd & psychiatry at 4 th building behind the ophthalmic block. Out Patient services of OBG, Paediatric & Paediatric surgery are at Cheluvamba Hospital & for Chest disease & thoracic surgery at PKTB Hospital. OPD functions from 9 to 1 & 2 to 4 on all working days & 8 am to 1 pm on holidays. Patient seeking Out patient consultation has to register his name & the details at the registration counter located at the entry of out at patient buildings by paying Rs. 10/-. Then the patient can go to the respective speciality room for consultation. Patient are seen on first come first service basis. Emergency cases & senior citizens are seen out of turn on priority. The speciality services available are :- Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Skin & STD, ENT, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Endocrinology, Radiology, Anaesthesiology at K R Hospital & Obstetric & Gynaecology, Paediatric at Cheluvamba Hospital. Thoracic & Chest diseases & Thoracic Surgery at PKTB Hospital. Super Speciality Service available are Neurology, Neuro Surgery, Nephrology & Plastic Surgery at K R Hospital, paediatric surgery at Cheluvamba Hospital & Thoracic Surgery at PKTB Hospital.
These Out Patients are dispensed with prescribed drugs free of cost to the BPL patients at out patient dispensary located in the same building. Investigation :- After consultation the treating doctor writes for the required investigation in the out patient slip patient below the poverty line has to get the requisition form filled for various investigation at the counter & for APL Patient to get the requisition form filled after paying the prescribed fees. Blood Bio chemical, Pathology & Microbiology examination are done at central lab located in the first building of the administrative building. X-ray, CT & MRI are done at the X-ray dept. located behind the administrative block. The sample collection time 9 to 12 noon for a routine outpatient Investigations. The reports will be given in the afternoon by 3 o clock. Most of the investigations except CT Scan & MRI are free for below the poverty line patients where as for above poverty line patients has to pay the nominal charges fixed by the governing council which should be paid at the cash counter at outpatient building & obtain the receipt. Due to the work load CT, MRI & Ultrasound investigations are done on appointment & there may be waiting period. Emergency are done immediately. Many facilities like injection, suturing, and minor surgical procedure. Physiotherapy, drug dispensing, plaster application MTP, contraceptive services are given at respective hospital at OPD level. ART & RNTCP centres are attached to K R Hospital located on 1 st floor of administrative building & ICTC centre attached to Cheluvamba & PKTB Hospital & DOT centre is attached to PKTB hospital. These centres provide free treatment & counselling to the HIV +ve & tuberculosis patients.
The decision to admit the patient rests with the treating doctors. The patient will be admitted only if there are vacant beds however emergency cases are admitted on priority. Medical fitness, medical certificate for medical leave Inpatient & discharge certificates, wound certificate are issued by the casualty medical officer, RMO & treating doctors on paying the prescribed fees after obtaining the receipt at cash counter. Wheel chairs & stretcher trolley are available at free of cost at the entrance of OPD. Sitting arrangements benches & chair are available for the waiting patients. Pay & use toilets are available, attached to the OPD building. Private vehicles are not allowed to park in the premises. However for non ambulant patient the vehicles are allowed parking in front of administrative building for short time. You can see the respective consultant on their OPD day. 6. Be curteous to the staff of the hospital. 7. Try to appreciate the good work done in spite of the various constraints, heavy rush, bare minimal man power. On an average 1500 patient attend out patient, 100-150 attend casualties & 150 patients get admitted, every day. 8. Follow the Rules & Regulations of the hospital. 9. Do not make noise & avoid crowding. Don t Cause inconvenience to other patient. 10. Don t destroy or damage the hospital property. 11. Use Water & Electricity stringently. 12. Complaints & Grievances If you are not happy with the services & services are not to your expectation, don t hesitate to register your complaints. It only helps us to serve better.
