HSBC Youth Business Award The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) has always been empowering local young people to explore new career opportunities, breaking new ground in youth employment. In 2005, the "Youth Business Hong Kong" (YBHK) scheme was set up to offer Hong Kong's first one-stop youth entrepreneurship services including seed money, business mentorship and support, information and networking. Organised by the HKFYG and solely sponsored by HSBC Commercial Banking, the "HSBC Youth Business Award" was first launched in 2011 with overwhelming support. Application Details Eligibility Application Method 1. Business enterprises registered in Hong Kong between 29 June 2008 and 29 June 2012, both days inclusive, and which have been incorporated / set up in Hong Kong for at least 1 year and not more than 5 years. 2. Business enterprises properly registered with the HKSAR Government and hold all valid permits and licenses required or necessary for their business and activities. 3. The representatives of the enterprise named in Part II of the application form must be Hong Kong residents aged between 18 and 40 (as at application deadline) and be the founder(s) of the business, owning a majority share of the business and actively engaged in its management. Determined by the date of incorporation indicated on Certificate of Incorporation (applicable to incorporated limited company only) or Certified Extract of Information on the Business Register (applicable to non-incorporated limited company only). 1. Stage 1 Application: Business enterprises to submit the application (short form) by mail with a postmark or by hand to the HSBC Youth Business Award Secretariat ( the Secretariat ) on or before 5 pm, 28 June 2013. Business enterprises can also submit online application via the Award website. Business enterprises will be notified on or before 5 July 2013 of the result, i.e. eligibility to enter the second stage. 2. Stage 2 Application: Business enterprises that have received notification should submit the application (long form) with supporting documents by mail with a postmark or by hand to the Secretariat on or before 5 pm, 19 July 2013. Application sent by fax or email will not be accepted due to authentication issues. 3. Application forms (short form and long form) can be downloaded at the Award website. Judging Process 1. The Final Panel for Judges: After Stage 2 Application, the Secretariat may visit the shortlisted enterprises (if necessary) for better understanding of the operations. All shortlisted enterprises must attend the 1 st round interview in September 2013. Finalists will be shortlisted for online public voting after the initial assessment and the "Most Favourite Youth Business Award Online" will be awarded to the most-voted enterprise. The "Most Favourite Youth Business Award Online" will be solely based on the online voting results and independent of the final judging process. Finalists must attend a final interview conducted by an independent judging panel. Interviews will be held in October 2013. All decisions made by the judging panel shall be final. Judging Criteria Selection of the winning enterprises will be based on their products / services, market positioning and competitiveness, marketing and promotion tactics, management and business strategy, finance and cost control, as well as any other relevant information provided. Application Guidelines 1. General 1.1 Each business enterprise can submit one application only. 1.2 All Representative(s) of the business enterprise must fill in all data required in the application form clearly. 1.3 All Representative(s) of the business enterprise must provide all required information accurately or otherwise will result in disqualification. 1.4 All application documents will not be returned. Representative(s) of the business enterprise are advised to keep duplicate copies for future reference. 1.5 The Secretariat reserves the right to request for further information from the Representative(s) of the business enterprise, e.g. HKID card copy or other related information, etc. 1.6 The personal information of the Representative(s) of the business enterprise will be used for judging and correspondence purposes only. 1.7 Representative(s) of the business enterprise must agree and authorise the Secretariat to use their names, business description and other information solely for Award promotion. The accounting and financial information of the business enterprises will NOT be released. 1.8 The judging panel and the Secretariat reserve the right of final decision and the right to amend or interpret all details of the Award. 1.9 All Representative(s) are required to attend publicity campaigns, e.g. promotion activities and media interviews, etc. 1.10 All Award winners are required to attend the Award presentation ceremony. 2. Online submission is also available via the Award website. 2.2 Representative(s) of the business enterprise should not submit any personal identification documents at this stage. 3. Stage 2 Application 3.1 Upon receiving notification, business enterprises should submit application (long form) with supporting documents by mail with a postmark or by hand to the Secretariat on or before 5 pm, 19 July 2013. Application sent by fax or email will not be accepted due to authentication issues. Application documents should be submitted in Two Sets. Any missing information in either set of the application documents will not be considered. 3.2 Supporting documents include: I. Basic information (compulsory) a. Application form (long form) b. Duplicate copy of all valid permits and licenses required or necessary for the business enterprise's business and activities, e.g. Business Registration Certificate, etc. c. Duplicate copy of Certificate of Incorporation and Business Registration (applicable to limited company only) or duplicate copy of Certified Extract of Information on the Business Register or any other documents issued by the Government as proof of enterprise's date of incorporation d. Duplicate copy of Annual Return (Companies Registry Form number AR1) or any other documents issued by the Government as proof of enterprise Representative's current holding of shares (applicable to limited company only) e. Duplicate copy of the latest tax return and tax bills, and audited account (if statutory audit is required) or financial statements of the previous year II. Supplementary information (if applicable) f. Proven records showing the products or services were newly introduced or exclusively sold in Hong Kong and / or the business enterprise is the sole-agent in Hong Kong g. Organisation chart, with indication of the role and responsibility of the management, including enterprise Representative(s) h.
