Associate Degree Nursing Curriculum Improvement Project Work Groups.The following groups are effective as of December, 2006. The Steering, Research, Technology, and Simulations groups are continuing their work from the first quarter. The writing teams, Program Outcomes Writing Team and the Concepts Writing Team are beginning their work. Steering Committee The Steering Committee will meet regularly to discuss the work of the CIP and to insure that the focus remains aligned with the objectives. Simulations Focus Group The purpose of this group is to develop plans and cost analysis for simulation laboratories. Develop recommendations for purchasing equipment in stages, sharing equipment among institutions, faculty education of equipment, and obtaining grant support for purchasing equipment. Arrange a Simulation Fair at one of our future meetings so vendors can showcase and demo equipment. The purpose of this group is to conduct an assessment of nursing faculty across the state and recommend concept categories and guiding principles for a concept-based curriculum design. An assessment should be disseminated via e-mail to each of the 55 CIP Representatives who will collect data at their college and provide feedback to this group. This group will use the CDC and obtain common diseases, the IOM and obtain the 13 common chronic conditions and the concept categories used in the curriculum at the University of New Mexico as guides for their work. Research Focus Group The purpose of this group is to conduct literature searches and compile data for all CIP representatives and ADN faculty across the state. Technology Focus Group (TRAIN) The purpose of this group will be to lead efforts in web-based instruction, investigate the implementation of online hybrid nursing courses, recommend appropriate software, assess use of PDAs, ipods, streaming video, etc. Assess opportunities and mechanisms for resource sharing among institutions.
