Epworth Freemasons Maternity Unit

Our professional staff are committed to providing a supportive and caring environment for you, and your family, to enjoy.

Having your baby Our experienced midwives know how important it is for you to be informed on your birth options. They will discuss with you the various choices and facilities available at Epworth Freemasons, all of which have been designed with your comfort and wellbeing as top priority. Our delivery suites provide the latest in technology, blended discreetly into the room s décor, creating a harmonious, safe and peaceful environment. A fully-equipped operating theatre and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are also nearby, if required. Caring for your baby Our maternity unit has a ten-cot high-dependency nursery that cares for ill or premature babies. Our staff provide the highest level of clinical and emotional support during your and your baby s stay. For mothers experiencing difficulty breastfeeding, Epworth Freemasons has a breastfeeding clinic. This is situated at the Park Hyatt Melbourne and is managed by our qualified lactation consultants. Education Epworth Freemasons offers a comprehensive suite of education classes for you, your partner and even grandparents. These include classes discussing how you might prepare for labour, breastfeeding, preparing for home, twin babies and parenting skills. Your accommodation Our accommodation has been designed to provide a superior experience, level of support and security. We are delighted to be able to guarantee you a private room with an en-suite, television, telephone and free Wi-Fi. Several of our suites also have double beds. A nurses station is only a short distance away, should you need us any time of the day or night, for assistance or advice.

Your meals At Epworth Freemasons, we pride ourselves on sourcing Australian products. They re prepared daily, on-site, by a team of dedicated chefs, for you to enjoy. Our menu is designed to reflect the seasons, with an emphasis on healthy and nutritional dishes. Partner s meals are also available, please ask your Food Service Assistant for more details. Park Hyatt Melbourne At Epworth Freemasons we are committed to creating an environment that will support and help you bond with your baby. We believe that our boutique Hospital in the Hotel Program at the nearby Park Hyatt Melbourne, is an extension of that care. Because each birth and situation is different, this program is not available to everyone. There are strict medical criteria that needs to be met before you can be eligible for transfer to the Park Hyatt Melbourne. Our maternity unit team will discuss your suitability following the birth of your baby and we encourage you to discuss your options with your obstetrician.

Visiting hours Our maternity unit visiting hours are 2.30pm to 4pm and 6.30pm to 8pm, daily. Partners and grandparents are welcome outside these hours, except for between 1.00pm and 3.00pm. During this time, visitors and telephone calls are discouraged to ensure you have the opportunity to rest. Early discharge packages Packages are available if you would like to return home earlier than your expected length of stay. The package contains an optional home visit by a midwife and the choice of any two discharge support services. This includes items such as a mother/ baby massage, home assistance, nappies, meals, flowers or gift vouchers. Bookings For further information about our maternity unit, please call (03) 9418 8300. We encourage you to have family private health insurance cover. This means that should your baby require admission to our special care nursery, you won t incur significant out of pocket expenses.
