We need shift team leaders and teams! Please sign up for this important event for the Post. Create a fun crew and provide community service at the same time. Sign up at the Post. Fair Concession Setup: Volunteer help needed. Meet at the Legion, August 19th at 1 pm, to transport equipment and set up the Legion concession stand at the Fairgrounds. Also volunteers needed to work the various shifts at the fair concession. Trumansburg Fair Parade: volunteer marchers needed to lead the Parade - meet at the Post at 3:30 pm on Saturday, August 25. Parade begins at 4 pm. Call Phil Colvin, 607-351-7394, if you have questions. Also, any Youth who would like to participate with the parade, please meet at Salo Drive at 3:30 pm on Saturday, August 25th. The group will be passing out candy. MEMBERSHIP The AL new fiscal year (2019) starts July 1 and dues are due by Aug. 1st. Legion membership quota for 2018 was 230 and 210 paid-to-date. Send in your dues ASAP for continuous membership. COMMANDER S CORNER Trumansburg American Legion Post 770 extends our most sincere appreciation for all of our volunteers that participated in our concessions tent at Grassroots 2018. This important event as well as the Trumansburg Fair concessions tent aids our post in continuing to serve our community. For now we are caught up on our bills but need more events in order to be comfortable over the slower winter months. If you have ideas please bring them to our attention and even more importantly VOLUNTEER to run an event. Ideas are great but they don t get the job done. Our current volunteer base is stressed at present and welcome new members! Please reach out to Veterans and those from our community actively serving our country. There are many within our communities that are not aware that they are eligible to be part of the American Legion Family in Trumansburg. With consideration of our 100th Year anniversary coming up next March, we are welcoming all that wish to participate in a committee to create a memorable event. Please join us, we need your help! Service to Youth: Scouts, BSA Troop 13 attended week 3 summer camp at Camp Barton from 7/15/18 7/21/18. Thank you to all of our Scouting Volunteers and Parents for providing supervision in order for the Boys to attend. Mission 22 serves to aid our Veterans ACCORDING TO A DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS STUDY EACH DAY OVER 20 VETERANS TAKE THEIR OWN LIVES. BUT TOGETHER WE CAN WIN THE WAR AGAINST VETERAN SUICIDE. JOIN MISSION 22 TO LET OUR VETS KNOW THAT THEY HAVE AN ARMY BEHIND THEM. If you have not paid for the membership year 2018 please do quickly for continuous membership, the 2019 membership year begins July 1, 2018. CHAPLAINS CORNER Taps: Condolences to Legion member Ray Terry on the loss of his mother, Grace Terry earlier this year. Condolences to Legion member, Dana Smith, on the loss of his brother, Paul Smith, in July. RELAY FOR LIFE Team 770 participated in the July 14 Relay for Life and would like to thank everyone who participated in helping Team 770 raise money for the American Cancer Society. To-date $1,735.46 has been raised.
