Guidance Services in Greece 0 In public sector : implemented both in Education and Employment field 0 The Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs supervises the Centers of Career Guidance and Counselling (KESYPs) 81 centers operating at prefectural level through its Autonomous Department of Career Guidance the Ministry of Labor and Social Security supervises the Centers for Promotion to Employment 118(KPAs) through the Career Guidance Directorate of the Greek Manpower Organization (OAED) 0 In private sector : municipal structures, private companies, free lancers that offer among other career guidance services, vocational training providers etc.

Services and practice of career guidance in Education 0 KESYPs regional centers o provide education and vocational guidance services and information face to face career guidance services to students and adults up to 25 years old and to their parents. o support School Career Counsellors who implement Career Counselling and Vocational Guidance either on an individual or group basis. o A new structure of career guidance services in secondary educations will be established soon by the Ministry of Education 0 Career Guidance Bureaus in Second Chance Schoolsadults who haven t finished obligatory education. 0 Career Services of the Employment and Career Development Structures (DASTA) in higher education to students and graduates supporting transition to the labour market

Implementation of Career Guidance in Secondary Education Career Guidance (SEP) aims at: 0 Aiding students in their personal development and self awareness. 0 Familiarising students with information as a communication process, emphasising the importance of developing abilities in the areas of active search, critical thought and taking advantage of available information. 0 Aiding students in problem solving and decision making, through activities that offer them an opportunity to live similar situations, aiming at developing their personal maturity. 0 Helping young people achieve the transition from school to work by enriching their experiences, using a wide and complex range of activities, both inside and outside the school environment. 0 Implementation of Vocational Guidance in the Classroom through activities

Implementation of Career Guidance and Counselling in Tertiary Education Career Services in Universities and Higher Technological Educational Institutes (TEI) 0 link the institutes of higher education with socioeconomic environment and labour market. 0 help students and graduates smoothly approach their future career and also find a job that is in accordance with the knowledge they received during their studies. 0 Career guidance and counselling, information provision i.e.: postgraduate studies in Greece and abroad labor market issues job searching techniques for graduated practice / training entrepreneurship CV preparation - interview for a job etc.

Services and practice of career guidance in Employment 0 Centers for Promotion to Employment (KPAs) OAED 0 Implement Active Labour Market Policies for promoting employment, and vocational training i.e: 0 a wide range of subsidized programs for employers offering job positions or professional experience opportunities to unemployed young people. 0 vouchers to young people for training programs or work or for specialized career guidance programs to support transition to the labor market. 0 employment placements, promotion to employment and training opportunities, entrepreneurship programs 0 Provide employment counselling services to the unemployed in order to support their labour market inclusion : counselling and career guidance, career management - job searching techniques, entrepreneurial counselling. 0 Employment mobility information and support to unemployed interesting in working abroad through EURES sservices.

Guidance Services and practice career guidance services to adults are also offered by 0 private and municipal Lifelong Learning Centers (Kentra dia Viou Mathisis) licenced by EOPPEP are providing among others career guidance services to support the career development of adult trainees, to improve their self - awareness, to plan their educational path and to take better educational employment decisions. 0 Social Partners : provide information and guidance mainly to adults, such as the Information Center for the Employed and Unemployed (KEPEA) of the Greek Workers Confederation (GSEE) operating at municipality level, the Entrepreneurship Network for the Support of Small Enterprises of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals Craftsmen and Merchants (GSEVEE). 0 Social services (i.e. Center for Rehabilitation of drug addicts, Center for Research on Gender Equality), NGO services etc. 0 Career Counselling and guidance are also an essential part in various training programs and supporting services targeted at young entrepreneurs, workers, unemployed and socially vulnerable groups, which are implemented by the Ministry of Labour and cofinanced by the European Social Fund.

TRAINING OF CAREER GUIDANCE PRACTITIONERS & COUNSELLORS IN GREECE Job training offered by relevant Ministries and bodies responsible for the implementation of counselling and career guidance in education and employment to active guidance practitioners. University postgraduate studies programmes in the field of Counselling, Career Guidance and other related areas public Higher Education Institutions Postgraduate Courses (MSc) -two years courses Diploma -one year course

Career counsellors : a short description Career counsellors nowadays can work in public or private sectors. As for the public services the situation is as below EOPPEP has recently certified the occupational profile of career counsellors although the assessment procedure (in process..) 0 Level A. Career counsellors (qualifications needed: a bachelor or a Master, or a Post graduate or a Phd degree in Career counselling ) 0 Level B Career guidance practitioners (a combination of the following qualifications needed : a bachelor degree in any field, a further vocational training (250 hours) in career counselling, 2 years of work experience or work practice of 200 hours)
