Because the end of August and September can be such a busy and demanding time, this last enewsletter edition of the summer is sparse by design and will help incoming and returning students plan their schedules. This information session will describe the Dare to Dream grants available to students, the application for each grant, and the deliverables to obtain each grant. Mingle 'n' Match Tuesday, September 18 4:30 p.m. in room W0750 Students with entrepreneurial interests informally mingle with students who already have a business concept with the goal of joining the team and working to create the business. Entrepalooza Friday, September 21 All day in the Michigan League Free! Register now at www.epalooza.bus.umich.edu Join us for Entrepalooza 2007: Anybody Can Do It -- the Business School's signature event celebrating entrepreneurship and new business formation. Entrepalooza 2007 will provide students and business executives an outstanding networking opportunity, in addition to exposing attendees to the various facets of entrepreneurship. Featured keynote speakers include Samuel Zell of Equity Group Investment and Kevin O'Connor former CEO and Chairman of DoubleClick, Inc. Panel discussions include corporate intrapreneurship, founding and growing start-ups, venture capital investing, and launching on the cheap. Entrepalooza is presented by the Entrepreneur & Venture Club and the Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies. We will review the application process, the details of each round, and the deliverables required. We will also discuss intercollegiate business plan competitions. All applicants, regardless of whether they receive a grant, are encouraged to stay to learn more about the Michigan Business Challenge. UM PE Conference Thursday, October 18 All day in the Michigan League This symposium is an exceptional opportunity to interact with attendees comprised of leaders from private equity, investment banking, and top businesses from across the country. The executive summary is part of the application for the Michigan Business Challenge. Session Tuesday, November 13 5 p.m. in room E1540 This information session is for students interested in learning more about the Venture Capital Investment Competition and how to sign up to compete in the Ross Internal VCIC. Marcel Gani Student Panel Friday, November 16 10 a.m. in room W0768 2007 Marcel Gani summer interns will discuss their experiences working for entrepreneurial companies and will answer questions about the program requirements and the benefits of what they received. The intermediate deliverables for the Assessment grant are due. MBC Round 1 Friday, November 30 1 p.m. in the Great Lakes Room at Palmer Commons During Round One of the 2008 Michigan Business Challenge, student teams will have three minutes to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges followed by three more minutes of question and answer. Internal Venture Capital Investment Competition Wednesday, December 5 Student teams compete to see who will move forward to the regional VCIC at the University of Colorado. Business Development Seminar: Articulating Market Information Thursday, December 6 5:30 p.m. in room W2759 This seminar will discuss how to research and convey the market information for a start-up company. A market and financial overview is the required deliverable for Round Two of the Michigan Business Challenge.
