In line with the values of Hashoo Foundation, EDP believes in empowering people and building their capacity. Hashoo Foundation Implementing Pakistan Reading Project HF conducted 27 one day cluster based sensitization sessions of parents and teachers during the reporting month. During these sessions, the participants were oriented and sensitized in detail about the importance of developing reading habits in an early age and role of teachers, parents and community members towards the development of Urdu reading habits among the students of Grade-I and Grade-II, under the banner of PRP initiatives. NGOs were of the opinion that there is an immediate need for better and enhanced collaboration and cooperation between different NGOs to draw maximum output from the efforts being made to bring about a change in the society at grass root level. A large number of participating NGOs also set up their stalls at the premises where they highlighted their work and efforts that have been made to create awareness about different social, economic and cultural issues. The team gathered outside Core Office Islamabad and proceeded to travel to Mukhshpuri from where they took a 1.5 hour hike to Mukshpuri Top. Different team building exercises were carried out followed by BBQ arranged by the participants. The day's activities successfully improved team bonding, communication and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Staff involved in different activities

Meeting with General Manager, Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore A meeting was conducted by representatives of HF Skills Development Program with Mike Muhammad Jawad, General Manager of Pearl Continental Hotel Lahore, on 17th Feb 2016 at PC Lahore. The purpose of the Annual Progress Review Meeting HF Scholars Hashoo Foundation, in collaboration with Ceena Health and Welfare Services is facilitating 13 students in terms of fee and accommodation facilities in order to help them pursue their careers in different fields of education. In order to ensure a meeting was to introduce Hashoo Foundation and welcome newly appointed GM. Career Opportunities and Job Placements under Skill Development Program, HRDC Lahore Mr. Tauuqir Qadir working at The Le Schanze Mr. Tauqir Qadir was the trainee of reception trade under PSDF skill development program who had moved to Lahore from Burewalato pursue this course. Upon completion of the training, he got an opportunity to be interviewed by Syed Zia, Hotel Manager, at Hotel The Le Schanzefor the position of front officer and fortunately got selected. Mr. Tauqir is currently earning Rs. 12,000 per month with additional food and accommodation benefits. Mr. Tauqir is hopeful for a prosperous career ahead and thanked the Foundation for providing him with this opportunity to enhance his skill set. Syed Zia, Hotel Manager, at The Le Schanze also appreciated HF trainees and are willing to hiring more trainees in Housekeeping and Food & Beverages departments. Job placement cell Lahore conducted interviews for the internship opportunities of 3 trainees namely, Abrar Ahmad, Aqeel Abbas and Mehak Imtiaz for the position of Restaurant Manager at PCH Lahore last year. All trainees were selected for the internship in restaurant operations. After completion of their 3 months internship, Ms. Mehak Imtiaz (Restaurant Manager Trainee) got selected for the job in PCH Lahore as a Front Desk Officer. During her internship period, Ms. Mehak proved herself as most diligent and hardworking internee thus got the job. She is a fine example of hard work and positive attitude for others and HF is confined to the path to produce such fine examples in future Mr. Zahir Abbas continued his journey as restaurant crew member in Grand Inn Hotel Lahore where he is polishing his skills to become a leader in hospitality field. Mr. Zahir joined Grand Inn with the aim to pursue his career as a Restaurant Manager. He is very thankful to HF for providing him the opportunity to continue his learning in the hospitality sector. HF wishes Mr. Zahir a great career ahead. Final Examination Conducted by Hashoo Foundation under NAVTTC Hashoo Foundation is implementing a training project with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) at HDRC-Lahore. Under the said project, HF successfully conducted trainings for Restaurant Manager and Receptionist. 45 trainees under the said batches also completed hands on training with different hotels and organizations. Final evaluation for NAVTTC trainees was held on 23rd February, 2016

at HDRC Hashoo Foundation Lahore. Mr Muhammad Zahid, Zonal Manager TEVTA Lahore and Mr. Muhammad Arif Siddiqui, Deputy District Social Welfare Officer GarhiShaho Lahore both evaluated the exam process as external evaluators. Both external evaluators appreciated HF's contributions in imparting skill training and uplifting vulnerable communities. The examination committee was satisfied with discipline, arrangements and positive attitude of all trainees. Trainee Participation in Technical Review of Cooking Training Learning Material (TLM) Workshop A 5-day workshop was organized for the technical review of Cooking Training Learning Material (TLM) for National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) at TEVTA headquarter in Lahore. Participative approach methodology was adopted among participants while 14 modules of NAVTTC were shared with the participants for review. Zakia Asghar, Trainee of Hashoo Foundation shared her experience and stated that the major outcome of workshop enhanced her professional skill and knowledge. She had a good experience with experts from different regions which helped her to understand market dynamics of hospitality sector team. ICIMOD Representatives visits Hashoo Foundation A meeting was held on 24th February, 2016 at Hashoo Foundations core office Islamabad with ICIMOD. The meeting was arranged on the request of ICIMOD with the agenda to discuss the scope of bilateral collaboration and signing of MOU between ICIMOD (under the leadership of Country Director Pakistan, Dr. Abdul Wahid Jasra) and Hashoo Foundation. Ms. Aisha Sarwari, Group Coordination Director, HG visits Hashoo Foundation Ms. Aisha Sarwari, Group Coordination Director at Hashoo Group visited Hashoo Foundation on Thursday, 11th Feb 2016. The aim of the meeting was to share information on the working of the Foundation and integrate synergies towards enhanced projection of HF's activities on a wider canvas. Her visit commenced with a meeting with Mr. Sulaiman Dhanani, Country Director Hashoo Foundation and Col (R) Muhammad Sadiq, Director Projects at Hashoo Foundation, where she was updated about the programs and projects of the Foundation. This was followed by a 1st Graduation Ceremony of HMTP Funded by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) visit to Umeed-e-Noor to meet the physically challenged children and appreciate the efforts of staff for their unwavering support in mentoring these children. Later in the day, CD along with Director Projects accompanied the distinguished guest to visit Regional Office Rawalpindi and Project Office PSDF to Asia) Quetta. Mr. Rehan Faiz Pirzada, General Manager Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi was the Chief Guest. The aim of this event was to encourage the trainees of Hospitality Training Management Program. Mr. Rehan motivated the trainees and praised the efforts of Hashoo Foundation, PPAF visit on-going classes and interact with the staff, trainers and students. Concluding her visit, she highly appreciated the efforts of the Foundation towards its on-going endeavors and ensured her support towards its future ventures. and SUSG-C Asia. Employers including Directors, Managers Human Resource from Hospitality and Education sectors including Marriot, Pearl Employers' while conducting interviews

Continental, ChayeKhana, Air Foundation, Howdy, Fresco Sweets, Knowledge Gazibo School, Allied Schools and many others conducted walk-in-interviews to offer jobs relevant to the skills, knowledge and competencies of trainees during their courses. There were 640 resume received while 120 prospective candidates got selected. This year, theme of Job Fair was Justaju Ki Takmeel with a focus to ensure the success of energetic youth by getting recruited with the relevant industry. Rotary Club of Islamabad Margalla and Rotary Club Rawalpindi have received 103,182 books since 2011, which ranges from materials that are useful to primary up to higher education levels. 1st Graduation Ceremony of HMTP Trainees (Sponsored Students by FATA DA) Graduation ceremony was organized for the 1st Batch of 74 Trainees (sponsored by FATA DA) at Hotel Pearl Continental, Rawalpindi on February 27th, 2016. This ceremony was held after the successful completion of 6 months Hotel Management Training Program. Tufail Khalil, Program Director FATA Development Authority praised Hashoo Foundation's efforts of mentoring these trainees from FATA. Trainees while visiting PC facilities

One Day Exposure Visit of HMTP Trainees to PC, Rawalpindi To get acquaintance with the culture of hospitality industry, one day exposure visit to Pearl Continental Hotel Rawalpindi was scheduled for HMTP trainees on February 02, 2016.Trainees visited Food & Beverage, Housekeeping and Guests' Floor of PC Rawalpindi. Keeping in view the trainee's learning requirements, a participatory and experimental approach was adopted to make the visit productive and effective. Activities were planned for the PC employee demonstrating HMTP trainees maximum learning of trainees. Such exposures are specially designed to facilitate the underprivileged individuals from the various remote areas of Baluchistan. PLANTATION DAY- ROG Plantation day was celebrated on 14th Feb, 2016 at ROG Gilgit. Before the start of the event, YDC management oriented the boarders about the importance of flowers and tree plantation. All boarders and management were involved during the plantation which they watered later on. The keen interest and the positive response of the boarders to celebrate event and become aware of maintaining nature was overwhelming. At the end of event, all the participants posed for a group photo. Group picture of YDC Girls Stress Management Session YDC ROG Miss. Nasreen during the session Youth Development Centre for Girls, Gilgit arranged a session on Stress Management on 25th Feb, 2016. Duration of the session was two hours which was conducted by Miss. Nasreen, a Medical Specialist at Aga Khan Health Gilgit Pakistan. Ms. Nasreen shed light on the subject matter while stating that stress is part of life which is encountered by all from time to time. She explained physical and behavioral, emotional and cognitive sign of stress and anxiety in detail and shared different techniques to deal with it. She also explained different strategies through multimedia presentation to overcome exam stress. The session proved to be quite fruitful for the boarders.

The chronic state of mental illness caused her to be a muted and motionless human, unable to even intake the food. Sultana was a bright student of her class and was an active participant in extracurricular activities, but with passing time, she faced frequent headaches and indications of depression which caused her performance to mantle down. Despite the arousal of health complications, mustering ambitions of a bright future, Sultana reached high school with distinctions. This was the unfortunate time whilst she stepped into grade 9th when suddenly one day she was found unconscious in her treatment at CMH Gilgit city revealed that she is in a higher state of Psychological Depression hence needs a prompt care through extensive medication with regular follow ups. The tragic moment lied at this end was, that the family was living a sub-standard life, hardly meeting the household expenses and were unable to even pay for a follow-up checkup. The entire family was rested upon the income of her father who was a waged labor with only Rs. 5,000 a month. Despite these situations, the family somehow managed the medication for initial 2 months but afterwards they discontinued due to the financial inabilities. Ultimately, the girl was again inflicted within the traumatic situation of unconsciousness. Owing to the family's the relatives took her to local community health centre where she was admitted and kept under observation by the doctors. Sultana before treatment At this stage the tragic account of sultana was conveyed to HF team by a local representative. After an initial verbal telephonic communication with her family, on 12th of September 2015, HF- SWP team reached community health centre Hunza to meet Sultana. Wherein, after analyzing her physical state, a meeting was held with the doctor, who inferred that: Sultana before treatment The condition of Sultana is becoming worse day by day, despite our unrelenting maneuvers. move nor eat. Currently we rely on providing medicine through oral intake observing any sign of relieving. As per the current condition is concerned, we are glancing no signs of recovery. The only possible move towards her recovery is to shift her in an intensive care unit of psychotherapy. But as per our observation, the family doesn't hold such capacity to bear extensive treatment cost. Sultana, after Treatment Analyzing this distressing condition, HF managed to shift Sultana from Sultana, after Treatment community health center Hunza to the WHO established tertiary care psychotherapy center at Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi. The event was attended by the trainees of Domestic Cooking and Accommodation Operation Services of PPAF program at Taraqi Foundation. Hashoo Foundation played its role in the personality development of trainees for providing them a right platform to learn professional skills in order to compete in the International Hospitality Industry. Affiliation of all the trainees with HF during the 3 months training tenure was highly appreciated. Trainees posed for group picture with HF staff BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS: Birthdays were celebrated by HR in collaboration with social committee of those staff members whose birthdays were in the month of February. Events took place at Regional Office Chitral, Regional Office Rawalpindi and Core Office Islamabad. A customized video was played with a birthday song followed by a cake cutting ceremony. Birthday cards were presented and event was thoroughly enjoyed.
