END OF YEAR AWARDS CEREMONY 2015 GRADE 12 SCISA HONOR GRADUATES PALMETTO FELLOWS PRESENTED BY ACADEMIC COUNSELOR Graduates earn this honor by meeting all of the following criteria: SAT score of 1100 or an ACT score of 24 or higher 3.5 GPA or 92 numerical average for each of the student s seven semesters covering at least 15 units of academic subjects in the areas of math, English, science, social studies, and foreign language.. Be recommended by the Head of School Earning this year s SCISA honors are Riley Bair, Jessica Burns, Michael Davis, Katie Gleaton, Angelica Iglesias, Jasmine Murphy, Ben Ridgeway, and Shiane Ruple. This award recognizes the most academically talented South Carolina seniors. In order to qualify for the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, students need to meet one of the following sets of academic requirements: Score at least 1200 on the SAT (27 on the ACT) by the June national test administration of the senior year; earn a minimum 1

JR SERVICE LEAGUE DISTINGUISHED YOUTH CLEMSON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL SCHOLAR 3.50 cumulative GPA; and rank in the top 6% of the class. OR Score at least 1400 on the SAT (32 on the ACT) by the June test administration and earn a minimum of a 4.00 cumulative GPA. This year s Palmetto Fellows Award is presented to Angelica Iglesias. The Junior Service League Distinguished Youth Award is presented to one senior for loyalty, dedication and service to their school. The recipient is elected by the staff. This year this award is presented to Maggie Robertson. A senior is presented this award by ranking first in their class at the end of their junior year and are eligible for a $2500 per year scholarship if they attend Clemson. This year s Clemson Independent School Scholar Award goes to Angelica Iglesias. UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA VALEDICTORIAN SCHOLARSHIP This award is given to the #1 student at the end of their junior year. This year s recipient is Angelica Iglesias. Grade 11 PRESENTED BY ACADEMIC COUNSELOR 2

COKER COLLEGE SCHOLARS COLUMBIA COLLEGE SCHOLARS CONVERSE SCHOLARS ERSKINE FELLOWS The designation as Coker College Merit Based Scholarship Program, which recognizes current juniors who rank in the top 30 percent of their high school classes and have GPA s above 3.0 and a minimum of 1100 on the SAT or PSAT, or a minimum of 24 on the ACT have been earned by Graham McDonald, Carrie Troutman, and Miti Patel Named as Columbia College Scholars, which recognizes young women who rank in the top 25 percent of their high school classes, scored at least 1020 on the SAT, or a 22 on the ACT. These students are Miti Patel, Hannah Toole, and Carrie Troutman. Converse presents this award to five selected young women in the junior class who maintain a 3.0 weighted GPA or higher and have an 1000 or above on the SAT or a 21 composite score on the ACT. This year s recipients are Rebecca Bamberg, Miti Patel, Kearston Staley, Hannah Toole, and Carrie Troutman. Erskine College recognizes high school juniors who rank in the top 15% of their class, have earned a minimum of 1100 on the SAT, 24 on the ACT, or 110 (critical reading and math) on the PSAT, and maintain a 3.5 weighted GPA. This recognition is given to 3

FURMAN SCHOLAR NEWBERRY SCHOLAR- LEADER PROGRAM Graham McDonald. Students selected as a Furman Scholar must have a genuine interest in an education in the liberal arts and sciences, a high school weighted grade point average of 3.5 or higher, significant involvement in extracurricular activities and community service, demonstrated leadership potential, and at least a 1250 on the SAT or PSAT or a 28 on the ACT or Aspire. These recipients are Graham McDonald and Nicholas Rich. Newberry College awards this honor to students who meet the following criteria: eligible to enroll in college as of fall 2015, cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, SAT of 1000, PSAT of 100, or ACT Composite Score of 21, evidence of personal maturity and strong character, and an indication that the candidate can benefit from the liberal arts and professional programs offered by Newberry College and from participation in their educational community. These students are Lauren Arant, Cassidy Graham, Tucker King, Graham McDonald, Miti Patel, Kearston Staley, Hannah Toole, Carrie Troutman, Slade Walters, and Will Williamson. 4

PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE JUNIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD-PC JUNIOR FELLOW USC AIKEN SCHOLARS UPSTATE JUNIOR SCHOLARS Presbyterian College Fellows Award recognizes high school juniors who have demonstrated superior academic achievement and potential for future success. The $2,000 scholarship awards $500 annually for four years of study at Presbyterian College. These students must meet two of the following criteria: One or more of the following test scores: PSAT score of 110 or higher, SAT score of 1100 or higher, ACT Composite score of 24 or higher, must be ranked in the top 10 percent of the current junior class, or have a weighted GPA of 3.6 or more. This award goes to Graham McDonald. USC-Aiken Scholars recognizes juniors who are completing the college preparatory curriculum, rank in the top 15 percent of their class, scored at least 1000 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT (21 PLAN), and participate in at least two extracurricular or community activities were Graham McDonald and Hannah Toole. USC Upstate recognizes outstanding hiht school juniors throughout South Carolina to honor academic achievements and community service. These students are academically talented, have scored at least 100 on 5

WOFFORD SCHOLAR JUNIOR LEADERSHIP GIRLS STATE the PSAT, or 1100 on the SAT, or 24 on the ACT, and have an overall high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, and participate in extracurricular activities at school of in the community. These nominations are Graham McDonald, Hannah Toole, Slade Walters, Carrie Troutman, and Cassidy Graham. Wofford College awards this scholarhip to students who rank in the top 10% of their class, achieved a minimum score of 1250 on the PSAT or SAT, or 28 composite on the PLAN or ACT, demonstate qualities of scholarship, leadership and potential for success. These students must apply to either Wofford s Early Decision or Early Action deadline. This award is presented to Graham McDonald. This program has been developed to teach citizenship skills to high school boys and girls. Its purpose is to help introduce emerging leaders to Orangeburg County. Students selected by the Upper School faculty must exhibit strong leadership skills or show potential as emerging leaders while also maintaining above-average grades. This year s winners are Hannah Toole and Shivani Patel. This award is sponsored by the American Legion Posts from towns throughout Orangeburg County and 6

BOYS STATE GRADE 10 AWARDS HUGH O BRIAN LEADERSHIP AWARD presented to girls in their junior year who demonstrate the following characteristics: : leadership ability, interest in government, character, maturity, honesty, scholarship, cooperativeness, and desire to participate. This year s delegates are Sarah Fanning, Shivani Patel, Hannah Toole, and Hagan West. Named as alternate is McKenzie Morrell. This award is sponsored by the American Legion Posts from towns throughout Orangeburg County and presented to boys in their junior year who demonstrate the following characteristics: leadership ability, interest in government, character, maturity, honesty, scholarship, cooperativeness, and desire to participate. This year s recipients are Hart Harley, McGill Hutto, Graham McDonald, and Slade Walters PRESENTED BY ACADEMIC COUNSELOR This award is given to a current sophomore that has been identified by the faculty as a leader within his/her class. This award is presented to Frank McConnell. 7

SUPERINTENDENT AWARDS PRESENTATIONS WANNAMAKER AND WALLACE SCHOLARSHIPS These awards are selected by the faculty and are presented annually to girls or boys. These are partial tuition scholarships. Students who receive these awards demonstrate the following characteristics: scholarship, character, citizenship, service to school, dependability and cooperation. This year s recipients are: Tommy Wannamaker (rising seniors): Hart Harley and Hannah Toole Robert Boyd Wannamaker (rising junior): Frank McConnell and Kathryn Felkel Angie Rae Bryant Wannamaker (rising sophomore): William Garner and Evie McLean 8

TREY NOLL SCHOLARSHIP Mr. & Miss Indian Award (separate folder) Presented by Ms. Mims TOMMY WANNAMAKER AWARD Each year since 2007, a deserving high school student has been awarded the Trey Noll Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will go to a rising junior. The scholarship is given to a student that a committee of faculty thinks best epitomizes the strongest character traits of Trey Noll which include being respectful and having a strong work ethic. This year s recipient is Scoville Reynolds. Every year Orangeburg Prep elects two senior students to represent the school and Mr. and Miss Indian. This is not merely a popularity contest, but is based on several factors including scholarship, character, and contributions to the greater good of our school. This year we have elected Ben Ridgeway and Rebecca Strickland. The highest award any student can attain at Orangeburg Preparatory School is the Tommy Wannamaker Award. This award is presented annually to a senior boy or girl and is selected by the faculty based on outstanding scholarship, leadership, character, and citizenship. This year s recipient is Ben Ridgeway. 9

NHS AWARDS Presented by Sponsor JUNIOR To be considered, the student must MARSHALS have attended Orangeburg Prep in the 9 th, 10 th, and 11th grades. Eligibility is determined on the basis of a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and is ranked in the top 12 of their class. These juniors include Lauren Arant, Cassidy Graham, Hart Harley, Addison Jeffcoat, Tucker King, Graham McDonald, Shivani Patel, Kearson Staley, Hannah Toole, Slade Walters, Hagan West, and Will Williamson. SCISA SCHOLOR ATHLETE AWARD This award is given to students who letter in at least two varsity sports during the current school year and must maintain the honor roll status for the first three quarters of the school year. The following students have met this criteria: Parker Kuck, Bill Metts, Ansley Bair, Evan Bair, Trent Bair, Frank McConnell, Cassidy Graham, Hart Harley, Shivani Patel, Nick Rich, Hannah Toole, Hagan West, Victoria Williams, Will Williamson, Jessica Davis, Michael Davis, Angelica Davis, Ben Ridgeway, Shiane Ruple, and Tim Schriver. 10
