Beck s Hybrids Leaders in Agriculture Scholarship Beck s Hybrids has been a family owned company for 79 years. We know the grit and determination, the faith and fortitude, the foresight and vision, and the ingenuity and imagination it takes to sustain and run a family farm. Beck s Hybrids is pleased to offer a scholarship for high school seniors that reside in Beck s Southern Marketing Area. The scholarship is open to students who feel they have been influenced by their experiences with agriculture. Scholarship applicants are required to complete the written application below and to submit a video. The video format provides a creative way of conveying the student s experiences cultivated in agriculture and how these experiences will influence them in their future endeavors. Beck s Hybrids will award $2,000 to the college that the scholarship recipient is attending. The deadline for applications is March 1 of 2016. The scholarship will be awarded in May 2016. Application requirements: 1) Create a two to four minute video that conveys the following: Tell us a story using specific experiences you have had in agriculture and how these experiences will influence you in your future endeavors. Directions to upload and send the video are explained on pages 3-5. We encourage you to be creative! 2) List how you demonstrate a strong commitment and display leadership in community service work, extracurricular activities and work experience. Use the space provided to list your top examples for each in the order of their interest to you. Include major accomplishments or roles. The video will be graded heavier than the written application. Work Experience To qualify a student must be a full time high school senior and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. A selected committee will judge all timely submissions. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Students must reside in Kentucky, Tennessee or in one of following counties in southern Illinois, southwest Indiana and southeast Missouri: Illinois Edwards, Wabash, White, Saline, Gallatin, Pope, Hardin, Pulaski, Alexander, Union, Johnson, Massac, Hamilton, Perry, Franklin, Williamson, and Jackson. Indiana Gibson, Pike, Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Dubois and Perry Missouri Wayne, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Ripley, Butler, Stoddard, Scott, Mississippi, New Madrid, Dunklin and Pemiscot. The winner will agree to: have his or her name and city published; have his or her video posted on the Beck s Hybrids website, as well as on social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube; provide Beck s Hybrids with a photo to be used for publicity purposes and for distribution to the media; and be available for interviews with the media if required. Winning videos will become property of Beck s Hybrids. Beck s Hybrids will also retain the right to grant permission to third parties to post part or all of the winning videos. The winner will be asked for photo consent for all the individuals and facilities filmed in their video. Non-compliance with any of these requirements will result in forfeiture of the title and award. The decision of the judges is final.
