Operations Manager Job Title: Location: Accountable to: Responsible for: Hours of Work: Salary: Operations Manager Bournemouth Director Residential Support Workers 40 hours per week 35k - 40k (Performance Related Bonus Scheme Available) Background: Budwood Limited is a provider of Supported Living Homes for young people aged 16+ who have complex needs. The ethos of the home s are that staff provide safe, nurturing and therapeutic parenting to young people in family style homes. Each home is small, with one member of staff on duty and up to 3 residents. Support is provided 24/7 by residential support workers who are supported by a clinical team to ensure their practice remains therapeutically driven and with an awareness of the impact of complex trauma and adverse childhood experiences. Budwood is owned by Sophie Barton and Rachel Barton-Coates. Sophie has over 25 years experience in working with looked after children, managing a therapeutic fostering agency aswell as working for Ofsted as a regulatory inspector. Rachel delivers the finance, administrative and business support to the agency, having run a successful design company for the past 20 years. Due to the expansion of Budwood and the business plan of increasing the number of our homes across the South West we are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Operations Manager to support the Directors in delivering our services. Purpose of the role: To ensure the homes are run effectively, that high quality support is provided to young people at all times. To be an advocate for the residents well-being and to provide strong, motivational leadership to staff.
Duties and responsibilities: To manage a small group of homes for young people aged 16+ with complex needs. Ensure the day to day delivery of support provided within the home meets the needs of the young people and the contractual obligations with our customers. Ensure the efficient operation of the service in accordance with the relevant legislation, procedures, policies and the Statement of Purpose for the homes. To deliver a service in line with the agreed development plan, promoting the delivery of high quality, clinically informed practice. To support staff to achieve the highest standards of support for the residents. To co-ordinate and monitor support provided and administrative functions of the home and evaluate standards of performance. To assist and supervise in the continual assessment of the needs of the young people and to identify and prepare specific development plans to ensure the most appropriate service provision. To be involved in recruitment of staff including vetting, interviewing and inducting new employees. To contribute to a comprehensive staff training and development programme to enable the service to have available all necessary skills and levels of expertise to meet the needs of the young people. To contribute to the development of appropriate relationships with and between staff, young people and other stakeholders. Liaise with the various internal and external multi-disciplinary teams and commissioning authorities to ensure that the support needs of new and existing residents are met. To chair meetings, reviews and discussions as necessary. To ensure at all times that professional ethics and behaviour are demonstrated by all staff at all times. Actively co-ordinate the service provision and be a focal point for support, advice and coaching to all staff within the Home. To assist in the management, appraisal, supervision and support of all residential staff. To organise duty rotas in order to ensure that the needs of the young people are met at all times. To ensure that the Company's financial and administrative procedures are adhered to and to work within a set budget. Ensure all clinical practices and medication processes within the home are conducted in line with legislation.
To work with staff and others to meet the emotional and physical needs of the young people and planning for positive outcomes. Responsibility for safeguarding and promoting individual rights, providing good quality care which is free from oppression and where differences are respected and valued. Ensure all necessary documentation as detailed in the homes policies is completed to a high standard and be available for checks or interviews as requested. To promote appropriate and therapeutic relationships between staff and young people and their families, promoting the children and young people's involvement and participation in the day-to-day life of the Home. To be part of an On-Call system. Maintain a clean and safe environment; ensure that the physical state of the building is maintained to a high standard and that all repair/maintenance problems are dealt with promptly. Any other such duties as may be required from time to time by the Directors or their authorised representatives. Ensure that safe working practices are employed by all staff at all times in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work legislation. Will co-operate with designated personnel exercising their responsibilities in relation to the Health and Safety at Work Act. Flexible working to ensure the service runs effectively - Mostly Monday Friday 9am 5pm 25 days per annum pro rata plus 8 statutory holidays You may be required to work bank holidays and Christmas and New Year holidays, enabling the young people in our care to be supported through, essentially, family orientated occasions. You will be subject to a 6 month probationary period. We will observe our Pension obligations under auto enrolment. We offer a full training package which includes training in 'developmental trauma' and therapeutic parenting. The Operations Manager receives clinical supervision from the home s psychologist.
