Cerner Downtime Viewer provides near real-time transfer of clinical data to workstations. Logging into Downtime Viewer 1 From any Star Net page, click on EMR Center under For Employees in the lefthand navigation. 2 Click the EMR Downtime Resources button. 3 Click Downtime Viewer under Open your downtime application. 4 On the Applications page, click on the appropriate downtime folder or icon. 5 After clicking the appropriate folder or icon, the login screen displays. Enter your network ID (CE#####) and password. Opening a Patient Chart in Downtime Viewer Patient Lists 1 After you log in, the Downtime Viewer displays tabs for each unit. Each tab lists the patients that were registered on the unit at the time of downtime. Note: Use the Patient Search only if you cannot find your patient on a Patient List. The Patient Search only lists patients that are on the patient list tabs you have access to. 2
2 Click on the appropriate tab to access the unit where your patient is registered. 3 Click on a patient name to view their chart. If your patient is listed more than once, click on the one with an Admit Date. 4 The Audit Information window will display. For each patient you access, your CE number displays in the Username field and Downtime patient care is the reason for viewing this patient s chart in the fields provided. Click OK. 3
Clinics 1 Once you enter the login information, the Patient Search window displays. 2 To search for a specific patient, enter the patient name in the appropriate fields, and click the Search button. If there is more than one encounter, select the correct one. For each patient you access, your CE number displays in the Username field and a Reason (Downtime patient care) for viewing this patient s chart is displayed. Click OK. 4

Navigating in the Patient s Chart When the patient s chart displays in Downtime Viewer: The banner bar displays information about the patient. If allergy information exceeds the space available, hover over allergies to view more information. The Demographics tab lists encounters for this facility from the past 30 days, Each encounter displays separately. Click in the checkbox to select the encounters to view. Use the Menu to open other sections of the patient s chart. As you open sections of the patient chart from the Menu, tabs display under the banner bar. The tabs on the left should be used to initially open each section. The tabs that open at the top should be used to navigate from one tab to another. Note: Once in the patient chart, you can change the date range to view data up to 30 days back. However, the larger the date range, the slower the information will load - for best performance, keep the date range shorter. 6
Lab Results By default, the Downtime Viewer displays data from 1 day back. Change the range to view data up to 30 days back, by clicking on the down arrow to display the calendar. Use the arrow key to go back 1 month to change the result display. To filter lab results, click the Lab Results Filter down arrow to view specific results. 7
Patient Care Results Displays anything documented in IView. Click the down arrow to filter by specific result categories. Medication Orders The Medication Orders section displays: All ordered (active) medications and IV fluids for the selected date range. The next dose due - Use the date range feature to view 1 day in the future. Medications given prior to downtime (exception: discontinued meds). Order comments - Right-click on the Medication if a paper clip icon displays, and click on Order Comment Info. 8
Orders The Orders section displays active orders and their details. Note: Orders in a planned status will not display. Displays Child Orders - scroll to the right to view the Child Orders column. Double-click on Yes to view child orders. Click OK to close window. 9
Vital Signs The Vital Signs section displays, Vitals, O2 sats, and Measurements. Documents The Documents section displays Clinical and non-clinical documents. Note: Change the date range and filter the documents to locate documents you are looking for. Hover over a document to view the full title. Double-click a document to open it in the window. Click on the Print Document button to print to default printer. 10
Intake & Output The Intake & Output section shows 24 hour totals only. Click on the Intake and Output filter to find results. Note: Go to Patient Care Results to view details of Intake/Output. Scheduled Appointments Appointments pull in from the Scheduling application. Displays Future and Past appointments. If patient does not have appointments scheduled, displays No Scheduled Appointments in the Appointment Type column. 11
Medication Profile Displays Current medication orders, active prescriptions, and home medications. Immunization History Displays information related to the vaccines that the patient has received at Children's (or documented as a historical immunization within PowerChart). 12
