Civil Service Chief Examiner Borden conducted the examination to establish the eligibility list for Battalion Chief during the week of Monday, March 20 th. Administrator Robertson presented the annual contribution request to the Community Contributions Committee of the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe on Tuesday, March 21 st at the Muckleshoot Casino. Administrator Robertson attended the Washington Fire Chiefs Legislative Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 22 nd in Olympia. 1

DC Swearingen attended the Zone 3 Operations Chiefs meeting on Wednesday, March 22 nd in Renton. On Thursday, March 23 rd, Administrator Robertson attended the Valley Communications Center (VCC) Operating Board and Zone 3 Chiefs meetings at VCC. This Week: On Monday, March 27 th Deputy Chief Olson and IT Manager Smith will meet to discuss the preparations for ESO Go-Live scheduled for April 3 rd. Senior Staff will hold their weekly meeting on Tuesday, March 28 th, at Headquarters Station 31. CFO Horaski, Fiscal Coordinator Boyle and Administrative Services Coordinator Harper will attend the GPUG Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, March 28 th in Kent. Deputy Chief Swearingen will attend the Zone 3 Ops Chief meeting on Tuesday, March 28 th at VCC. Members of our Finance and IT divisions will meet with Systems Design on Wednesday, March 29 th to discuss ESO billing workflow. On Wednesday, March 29 th, Deputy Chief Olson will participate in the Cascade Emergency Action Plan Drill at Tapps Island. On Thursday, March 30 th Deputy Chief Swearingen will serve on the Renton RFA assessment panel for their Captain promotional exam. IT Manager Smith will attend the FRLs/Paging/Responses/CAD structure for the fire service meeting at VCC on Thursday, March 30 th. Deputy Chief Olson and Records Coordinator Zuger will attend RMS training on Thursday, March 30 th. 911 Requests for Services / Customer Service: Aid Call: (Pacific) On Monday, March 20 th at 10:25 a.m., firefighters responded to an adult female who was having seizures. The patient was evaluated and then transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) by King County Medics. 2

Aid Call: (Algona) On Tuesday, March 21 st at 7:30 p.m., firefighters and King County Medics responded to an elderly male having chest pains. Personnel evaluated the patient and he was transported to MAMC by private ambulance. Aid Call: (Auburn) On Wednesday, March 22 nd at 9:52 a.m., firefighters responded to an adult male who had his foot ran over by a forklift. Firefighters determined the patient was stable prior to bandaging and wrapping the wounded area. The patient was then transported to Valley Medical Center (VMC) by private ambulance. Aid Call: (Lea Hill) On Thursday, March 23 rd at 6:05 a.m., firefighters assisted a young female who overdosed on prescription medication. Patient was treated and transported to MAMC by private ambulance. Vehicle Fire: (Lakeland Hills) On Friday, March 24 th at 2:05 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle fire with exposure to a residence. Firefighters were able to immediately extinguish the fire and prevent it from extending to the residence. The vehicle owner was uninjured. Dumpster Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, March 25 th at 6:30 p.m., firefighters responded to the 600 block of I St. NE for a dumpster fire. Firefighters arrived to find a smoldering fire deep in the garbage. Firefighters utilized water and foam to extinguish. Aid Call: (Lea Hill) On Sunday, March 26 th at 10:24 p.m., firefighters assisted a middle aged female complaining of rib pain due to coughing. Patient was treated and transported to VMC by private ambulance. Training Division Activities: Year 2016 2017 Weekly 880 464 Year to Date 4,323 3,028 Battalion Chief Assessment Center Tactical Exam: Officers taking the VRFA Battalion Chief Promotional Exam were evaluated at the South King County Training Consortium. They were tested on fire ground tactics and radio communication using a computer simulator and role players. This evaluation tested the candidates on their ability to run a multi alarm incident and they were graded on their performance. This tactical assessment was one part of a multi task assessment center. 3

Swift Water Drills: Swift Water Technicians from the VRFA, and other agencies, attended a multi-agency drill in Renton. This drill was designed to train personnel who respond as swift water technicians with the knowledge and skills needed to identify hazards, self-rescue, and effectively manage rescues during swift water incidents. Fire Marshal s Office: Business Fire & Life Safety Inspections: Certified Fire Inspectors completed 11 new business safety inspections this week. 13 Inspection reports completed. 6 follow-up inspections completed. Operations elogic 1 st quarter training Hose and Ladders Will Winslow training webinar Planning training Other: Nothing to report Fire Investigations On March 20 th an accidental fire occurred at the 4400 block of C St NE in the City of Auburn. An employee at a light manufacturing facility was plumbing a condensation drain when the torch accidentally ignited the plastic tool cart. The fire spread to nearby pallets and was immediately discovered by an employee who put the fire out with an extinguisher. Dollar loss is estimated at $5,000. On March 24 th, an undetermined vehicle fire occurred at the 6200 block of Charlotte Avenue in the City of Auburn. The fire was confined to the vehicle with no nearby structural involvement. The fire is suspected to be mechanical failure of an electrical component. Dollar loss is estimated to be $15,000. Public Education PIEO staff with assistance from firefighters Martin and Jung staffed a booth at the annual Auburn Chamber of Commerce High School Career Fair at Emerald Downs. PIEOs Terhune and Hawks attended the annual Safety Summit at the UW Tacoma campus. Work continued on the 2016 Annual Report. Scheduling continued for the elementary school fire safety education classes in 1 st and 2 nd grades. 5

Posts were made to social media regarding an electronics recycling event at Station 31 in April and the High School Career Fair at Emerald Downs. Planning and Logistics P&L received 3 apparatus and 2 facility/small tool maintenance requests. BC Larberg assisted with the Battalion Chief promotional exam. The front office and training room at Station 31 were painted. A new gate was installed at Station 33 for technical rescue training purposes. Preventative pest control measures were performed at Station 31. 6
