Notice of Funding Availability Montana Campus Compact 302 University Hall Missoula, MT 59812 406.243.5177 www.mtcompact.org Overview: Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) is offering 2 - $1000 awards and 5 - $500 awards to support Martin Luther King Day projects, which align with the National Day of Service on January 19, 2015. Projects will have the twin focus of MTCC s Read for Peace initiative, and educating communities about preparation for natural disasters and home fires. This one- time only funding is available for affiliates of MTCC in good standing. Interested parties are encouraged to submit the attached Funding Request Form on behalf of their host institution. For funding consideration, projects must: Be submitted as a request via an active MTCC member institution in good standing or in partnership with an MTCC Affiliate (Contact Kathy at 243-5135) Educate communities about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. s Legacy and/or Natural Disaster or Home Fire Preparedness Engage college students or Veterans in civic engagement to their communities Must take place during January 16, 2015 through January 19, 2015 with priority given to those held on January 19, 2015 Must use the Hope worldwide, MLK CNCS, and MTCC logos on all materials (will be provided) Following the event, project coordinators must submit a Day Of project report, a post project report including expenses, including volunteer data collected through provided sign- in sheets and forms Preference given to events which: Occur on Monday, January 19, 2015; Align with the priority of student civic engagement; Include strong public outreach and education campaign through community partnerships; Leverage matching funds. There is a 70% matching funds required for each award Allowable use of funds: Funds are for direct programmatic needs, including project materials & supplies, t- shirts or other identifying information for project volunteers; food, non- alcoholic beverages and other refreshments used during volunteer trainings, venue or material rentals. Note: only documented expenses (with original receipts) reimbursed.
Allowable Expenses for events: Materials & Supplies support the program goals; - (e.g. Smoke alarms, CO2 sensors, home fire prevention or natural disaster preparedness materials, etc.) Advertising & Marketing which generate event volunteers not general advertising; Travel & Meetings within per diem and policies for applicable travel; Contracted Services work on project within limits; cannot be used as an honorarium or speaker fee; Phone & conference calls specific program- related costs; Printing specific collateral materials relating to training or support of program; and Food for training volunteers only (not banquet/feed/celebration) Match funds can come from: Cash and in- kind donations; Match cannot come from federal sources (i.e. AmeriCorps, Learn & Serve, etc.); Regular volunteer time cannot be considered as match; Volunteer leader time (if consistent, documented, and allowable) CAN be used; Allowable match sources: Staff time to plan, setup and run the service activity; Supplies used in the service activities (smoke alarms, fire prevention educational materials, etc.); Transportation costs related to the service activity; Cash from non- federal sources; Building costs if doing a training or indoor project; Peoples time to open the building; Cost of renting such a space out; Security costs; Cost of using the space for the time of the project; Advertising and outreach costs for getting the word out about the project; and Donated staff time for planning, setup and implementation from collaborating organizations Please send funding requests by Friday, December 19, 2014 to: Montana Campus Compact 302 University Hall Missoula, MT 59812 Or Email to grants@mtcompact.org 406-243- 5177 Funding provided by:
